Ramiro, the manager who was working Thursday, February 6, 2025, behaved inappropriately towards my mother and I. We went in to eat, ordered a burger with no butter, margarine, or sauce. He brought a burger out with a every greasy bun. When we asked him to change it he insisted we were wrong and said the top of the bun is greasy because of the cheese. When he finally did cancel the burger, he still wanted to charge us $40 for two drinks, one salad bar, and a $6 pie. He then insulted my mother, told her she "just wants to pay for what she pleases" and that she was not welcome to eat there after she said she didn't think it was a fair price to pay. He stormed off and not once asked what he could do to fix a simple mistake. And he never appolagize either. We never raised our voice, we never gave him sas, and we still tipped our waitress. Thank you Araceli for your patience. We are leaving a corporate complaint on the manager and are currently in contact with a lawyer if he refuses service to us next time.

Arizona locations closed so when I'm in California I stop and buy a couple of pies. This trip I purchased two pies one cherry and one rhubarb. The cherry pie bottom was completely burnt black, I did taste the cherry filling and it was way too sweet. The rhubarb pie was cooked correctly but the rhubarb was tough and not very sweet. I guess we've run our course purchasing pies for Marie callender, which is such a shame cuz they were so good.

So nice to find the very rare Marie Calendars around. This one is the best of the few! Food quality always remains the same. Great service.
Love it that they have never changed the interior. Throw back to when I was a kid in the 60’s. Hope this La Mesa location never goes away!

Marie Callender's is always the number one place to get fresh whole pies. They are all consistently excellent. Our favorite is the Razzleberry pie. Comically I usually butcher the first piece I cut. So I just close my eyes and savor the sweet blackberries, raspberries, and apples in this perfectly balanced sweet and tart pie. Update: This time I got the Coconut Cream pie. I also decided to buy the official Marie Callender's Pie Cutter set to prevent mangling future pie slices. The results were excellent. Update: Got the steak and shrimp combo plates. Cornbread was very good. The steaks were tender and the shrimp were juicy. Everything was very tasty. Update: Got the steak and shrimp combo plates. Cornbread was very good, but a smaller piece than usual. The steaks were tender and the shrimp were juicy. The loaded mashed potatoes were a bit dry, and looked they had been premade hours before. Minus one star. Update: Got the Beef Pot Roast dinners. They were ok, but not as good as the steak entrees. Update: Got the steak and shrimp plate and the salmon plate. The salmon was good, but the steak and shrimp is still our favorite. Update: Got the Spicy Beef and Chicken Skillet and the Turkey Dinner. The taste of both entrees was good, however the skillet was very greasy. We would not get a skillet again. Got the Double Cream Blueberry pie and the Razzleberry pie. The double cream was over the top sweet, so we wouldn't get it again. The Razzleberry was excellent as usual, and still our favorite. Update: Got the steak and shrimp entrees. Both were very good. Update: Got the steak and shrimp entrees. This time both steaks were mostly connective tissue and were very difficult to cut with the steak knives. They were even more difficult to chew. The shrimp were good. We told our server about the steaks and she said she told the manager. No remedy was offered. Update: Got a German chocolate cream pie to go. It was excellent! Update: Got the turkey dinner and fajitas bowl. Both were good. Got razzleberry and apple crumb pies. Both were good. Update: Got the steak and shrimp combo plates. Both were very good and the service was excellent. Update: Got a Breakfast burger, a steak and chicken skillet, and a piece of key lime pie. Everything was very tasty, however the skillet was very greasy. Update: Got the steak and shrimp combo plates. Both were good, but asking for medium rare steaks usually results in medium well done. Update: Got the Chicken & Shrimp Carbonara. It was very good. The menu selections have changed and prices have increased.

Went here for lunch for the first time and it was very good!

We took our 11 month old and the high chair buckle was sticky. The man who showed us to our table said, "let me go hunt for a high chair" which to me, was a sign that they don't get used or cleaned very often.
Most of the patrons seem to be older.
They are also very wheelchair accessible. The servers were very polite and considerate. Our server, Kari, was extremely considerate when giving us our water while we were looking at our menus, to mention that she could serve our table before giving her attention to a much larger party.

I ordered a Lunch combo and chose half sandwich of Marie's Meatloaf and Potato Cheese Soup. My husband ordered the French Dip and Caesars salad. The meatloaf was scrumptious and so was the creamy soup. My daughter loved the soup, too. The French dip and Caesars was okay - kind of bland and just salty. The complimentary cornbread was fluffy and almost dessert-like. The value was also good. Prices were surprisingly appropriate.

Marie Callender's is a quality family restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. Good American food for decent value. The pies are their specialty....make sure you take a whole one home with you! Also, keep an eye out for pie of the month deals.

Had French toast, scramble eggs and turkey sausage. Sausage was dry, but eggs and French toast perfect!

Friend had over medium eggs, sausage, and 2 pancakes. Pancakes were tasty. But too rich for his diet.

Will do soup and salad bar next time!

First and foremost we had terrific service. The hostess and the server were both friendly and efficient. The facility was clean and it is conveniently located off the 8 freeway.

Marie Callender's has long been a family favorite. The comfort food selections made with fresh ingredients, have kept us returning over and over again. We had not been to this location since COVID closures and looked forward to the opportunity to visit. Long time customers, we were so disappointed in our recent visit. The quality of their food has declined so significantly that it will be a long time before we return.

Sadly, our party of 8 were all equally disappointed by the food. A variety of menu items were ordered and not one thing was satisfying. The potato soup tasted as if boxed potatoes were used instead of real potatoes. The Frisco burgers were terribly greasy, lacking flavor and so little meat that nearly half of the bread didn't have meat. The fries were soggy and bland. The Cobb and Thai salads were filled with limp old lettuce and minimal amounts of other ingredients. The chicken was bland and rubbery. The French Dip roast beef tasted old. Each of us left more than half of our meal on the plate.

Hopeful that their pies would be the high quality we have always had, unfortunately did not meet our expectations. The fresh strawberry pie had multiple berries that weren't even ripe, lots of green on them. The razzleberry pie was thrown out after just one bite.

The amount of money we paid for a meal that was mostly discarded was frustrating. I hope their quality menu items return soon.

3 of us ordered the holiday turkey dinner. Turkey was strange tasting and seemed marinated or undercooked. Veggies were mush. The only part of the meal we enjoyed was the cornbread
Booth was small and uncomfortable.
This is why Marie’s restaurants are closing down. Sad.
