Unfortunately there is not an option for minus star reviews. I have thought some of the companies I've dealt with in my life were bad, but Valley health plan sets the standard for bad. If you have a problem, you will never have the privilege of talking to someone. You will never get an email answered. You will never find an answer on the website. The only contact you will ever get is bills in the mail and emails about upcoming bills. The worst company in any industry I've ever dealt with.

If I could give zero starts, I would. I called two months ago to cancel my mom's insurance (thankfully I wrote down the cancelation number) - it was not only never canceled but now the customer service number line connects but no one is speaking. I have called four times and waited over an hour. PATHETIC.

Valley Health Plan has a system of physician networks that is confusing. Every specialist requires a pre-authorization but the process is convoluted and not well publicized to physicians resulting in delays. As it turns out, the PCP has to make the referral to new specialists even if the referral was made by the proceeding specialist. Most good physicians are part of SCCIPA network offered as an option under MediCal Individual Family Plan memberships, but VHP requires that any pre-authorizations be done by them, not SCCIPA creating a HUGE kink in the process. They could improve their customer satisfaction score by 2 points if they just fixed that one thing. I hope VHP Member Satisfaction reads these reviews!

Difficult to navigate how to get authorized for services through Specialist. Submitting claims is a nightmare there are two addresses they use for claims, and doctors and facilities are sending claims to wrong addresses so claims do not get paid and go to collections. I have been trying to get an MRI paid since October and it was authorized it was sent to VHP and they said my son was not on my plan which is incorrect and VHP confiremed he is. I gave insurance card to Simon Med at the time of service and they took copy and it is still is not paid. VHP customer service has no record of claim even though they authorized it. Messy plan.

Absolute worst insurance you can ever go to. The customer service representatives don't answer emails when really needed and phone calls are pretty much useless, as they just disregard your concerns and are cold faced about it. They take forever to redirect you to appropriate providers and it turns out those providers AREN'T EVEN PROVIDING THE REQUESTED SERVICE. Providers on their OWN WEBSITE are apparently out of network, and they don't gives a single penny about it when you complain. Like you don't think it can get any worse and VHP manages to break the world record.

Seriously save yourself and avoid VHP at all costs, they need to be criminally investigated and shut down.

This health plan is the dregs. If you can afford any other insurer, take it.

They say they are unable to tell you what is covered in your plan. Sure, they publish the general stuff that's covered and what services/procedures are excluded, but much of what's published is generalities. What about if you have a test/diagnostic code that will be billed by a medical professional, but you need to know PRIOR TO getting the test if it will be covered or not by VHP? This is a common scenario. It is a reasonable request.

I was told by a supervisor at VHP that there is no way they can tell me. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was ignored. When I emailed them again asking for a response, I was ignored again. I filed an appeal today. Let's see how they respond. $10 says they'll give me some sort of nonsensical canned response that won't mean anything.
