Update***

***The new owners Paul and Heidi are a huge improvement from the previous owner! I have recently re joined the gym, and absolutely love what they’ve done to improve the place. It’s clean, welcoming and has a lot of new equipment.

I was a member of the gym for just over a year. I recently cancelled my membership due to a problem with another member that was not appropriately taken care of by the staff.
An older man constantly stared at me, even going as far as to position himself directly behind me when I worked out. At first I did notice it, but honestly I thought he may be mentally handicapped, so I let it go for at least a few months. I eventually started feeling very uncomfortable with the blatant staring. I mentioned this to my husband who had recently attended the gym with me, and as soon as I started describing what was happening he recalled the exact man and seeing him stare at my friend and I when we were working out.
After that I decided to inform Kyle, who is an employee of the gym. He was very sympathetic, and stated he would speak with the owner Chester about it. I’m not sure if he ever did that, but the next time Chester was there I did speak to him, and asked that he confront the man, and try to come to an understanding before I had to confront him myself.
A week or so went by and no one spoke with the man. I was working out as I usually do, and noticed the man blatantly staring at me again, so I did confront him. That did not go well, and all I got was aggressive denial on his part. Chester happened to be there so I called him over to handle it.
Over the next couple weeks I still saw the man staring, more discretely now, but same behavior.
At this point I was getting anxiety when the man was in the gym, so I informed Chester that I was so uncomfortable that I was ready to cancel my membership if the man was able to continue to attend the gym. Chester’s response was understanding and compassionate toward my feelings. He asked me to “give him a couple days to make a decision” which was fine with me.
A couple weeks go by and I hear nothing from him, I spoke with another employee of the gym and asked if he had heard anything. Apparently Chester’s decision was to allow the man to continue his membership, but he did not bother to inform me.
I feel that this situation and the way it ultimately made me feel after the confrontation could have been avoided if Chester had just taken care of it before I was forced to stand up for myself and confront the man. I am very disappointed in the way this situation was handled. Clearly any compassion Chester expressed was fake.

I find it interesting that he has no problem leaving childish passive aggressive notes on walls and whiteboards nitpicking about members not turning off lights, but he won’t step in when a female member feels uncomfortable and unsafe because of another member.

Working out at El Dorado Fitness is a great experience. The gym is clean, has all the equipment you could need from free weights to machines and the new owners, Paul and Heidi, are friendly and excited to be the new gym owners!

I'm sure the gym is great.
I want to come in and get a membership but whenever I walk to this gym they are always unable to answer their phone or even be open when they say they're open. 1:40pm on a wednesday and still can't let anyone in or try to let someone apply for a membership.

Mike is awesome and aways happy to see you and offer words of encouragement. Plenty of machines to use and not overly crowded. Not a big box type of gym, so yeah it doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it does have a small town personal touch and I love it!

This used to be a great place with a small gym vibe and a friendly owner. They are under new ownership and it is not the friendly place it used to be at all. The equipment is jammed together and hard to move around. This is caused by the very strange layout with the addition of a seating area with a big screen TV that is useless in a gym. It is now just a chain style gym with a very impersonal owner that is not interested in his customers.

Owners/family Mike, Lily, and occasionally son Kevin man this gym and they couldn't be better people. Whether you're older, younger, looking to start a fitness routine, or continue something already more intermediate/advanced, they're more than happy to accommodate you. A clean, friendly, open, and rarely-crowded home town gym.

Good little gym. The owners are nice and the membership is cheap. Some of their equipment is old and worn out, but it never bothered me.
