I have been seeing a pain doctor for several years. After many instances of their office making mistakes, I have had to go through withdrawal symptoms several times! They overbooked patients and the wait times were very long. I felt like I was just a cash cow. I finally found California Pain and I was so impressed! The staff is so friendly and efficient! I’m getting fantastic care and already feel better! I just wish I had found this place sooner!

The front office people at the La Mesa Office are great. They're polite and helpful. I go there for Worker's Comp. treatment. I have made more attempts than I can count to call and talk to someone in the office. Without success. I have left a lot of messages on the telephone answering machine- again without any return calls. I spoke to the La Mesa's Office Manager and told about my experiences. She said she knew about the problems with the telephone system. She said that the company has been working on it for a long time, but couldn't say when they would be fixed. To get a message to someone I have to drive to the office and leave a message at the front desk. Even then I have not had any return calls from the Worker's Comp. person I have been trying to contact. Recently I wrote a lengthy message to the main office about the problems I have experienced. I'm still waiting for a reply. I tried to get some of my office medical reports so I could respond to a Worker's Comp. inquiry. I had to go to the office since the Worker's Comp. person has failed to contact me. I made my request and was told they couldn't release them to me. I explained that under the law I was entitled to those records. They still refused to give them to me.
Before California Pain took control of the company, I never had any problem reaching people there by telephone. There's a poster in the waiting room telling how well their response is to phone calls and messages left on their answer machines. It's simply NOT true!
I realize that someone reading this might suspect that I have exaggerated or been dishonest about the things I have reported- please believe me when I tell you that they are all true and shared with you honestly.
It's my hope someone in the California Pain Company reads this, looks into it, realizes that they have some problems with their telephone system and with some of their personnel that need to be fixed and corrects them.

All of the staff are wonderful and always
very helpful. I see Manny on a monthly bases. Manny is very helpful and presents himself very professional. Overall the office in La Mesa is amazing. You don’t have to wait to see Manny. I live in Eastlake and there is an office just 10 minutes from my home but I rather go to the office in La Mesa. Please let all of the staff including Manny that they are doing a wonderful jobs😊

I really do like this pain management office. All the doctors assistance are very nice so are the doctors themselves I’ve been in this pain management for as long as I can remember and just a month ago Cece, from the insurance department called me less than 24 hours before my appointment telling me my appointment was going to be canceled because my insurance was inactive. She was very rude. I told her over the phone I felt it was pretty unprofessional and rude for canceling my appointment and giving me less than 24 hours of notice. I’ve been on the same medications for years that she was just going to have me come off of if I couldn’t figure out my insurance issue. she was really no help for me at all. It left a very bad taste in my mouth after that experience for the insurance purposes. I also forgot to mention I called my insurance company that day and asked what was going on and he said he didn’t see anything inactive On my end so we try doing a three-way call to get a hold of cece and she kept saying she was going to call us back according to multiple people in the La Mesa office and she never ended up calling my insurance company back or me back (after I was told she would call us right back in 5-10 mins I waited with my insurance agent on the phone and nothing. I apologized to him for Cece and felt bad for wasting his time.) I did end up recording our entire conversation and showed it to my insurance company. They said it was very rude and unprofessional of her to do that. He said they’re not even allowed to do it. Cece did not want to help me at all. The only thing she told me was your insurance says inactive figure it out. Like I said, I’ve never had any issues with this pain management office until a month ago and she was the only person who gave me any issues.

Stay far away from this place so unprofessional. I came in today for my 2nd visit hoping to get some help instead I ended up walking out. Manny was unprofessional and doesnt seem like he knows how to do his job ! He didn't do his research with the information I provided on my first visit. I answered ALL HIS QUESTIONS and told him that I was there because I was in a car accident and been in pain since and I was given a referral to him by my doctor. He asked me if I did any xrays and I told him I did and he would get those before my next visit. Showed up and he tells me their's no record of me being in pain. I told him he can ask my doctor and he should have gotten my MRI'S witch he DIDN'T DO. I signed a paper giving them permission and when I asked him about it he just shrugged his shoulders and argued with me that Im not in pain and they dont have records ! How unprofessional and rude. Even though I gave him my reasons but wasnt good enough I sat there arguing with him as he didnt do his JOB and he says well you declined injections , so I cant hehlp you. So he wasted my time and his and because he wouldnt give me other options besides injections its like he refused care for me, and walked out of the room I was so upset and couldnt believe he did that ,he wasted my time. Then I walked out later because their was no reason for me to stay. Manny only wants to do injections and not educate patients on other options. Not coming back and while I was waiting in the lobby close to their front desk I noticed one of their employees a white gentleman with slicked back hair was drinking alcahol during his shift .Ya bro I noticed you drinking that twisted tea !!!

I've been a chronic pain patient here for several years. Yesterday (Friday on a 3-day weekend) I was told my meds would be called in right away. Bc I am out of meds that made me glad. Yet my pharm hadn't received their call by closing time. So here I am all 3 day weekend in pain with no meds. Not happy.

When regular P.A was out sick on the day of my appointment. The nurse and staffs at Sage Pain & Wellness in La Mesa worked the phone very hard to keep me from to go there to save me a trip.
Also, they ensured that I had enough medication which covered 2 days gap. On day 3, I was able to see my provider who prescribed the balanced meds for this month. People here are friendly, helpful, polite. I am well taken care of.
I had no issues, I am happy with this place, highly recommended.

Feb update they called the day before a procedure to cancel. Third time they've done this to me. I'm going to a different reliable dr. Don't waste your time here if you need pain assistance. Biggest waste of 4 months of my life.

I'm updating for January 2025. Dr. Zachary Cohen gave me a cortisol shot in my neck, and it went very well. The lady who did my IV did a great job! But I will still refuse to be treated by the doctor listed below. He gets a 1 star.

I have neck pain and was referred to Sage Pain. When I went to my first appointment, the location was not well kept. They have painted the office. It's a little better. Dr Seth Katzen is the one who did my procedure. Steer clear of him. It's Feb 2025 of a Dec 2024 procedure and I still have nerve damage from his botched procedure.
