As a Melanoma and BCC skin cancer survivor, I have been receiving dermatological treatments from Dr. Michael Lin and PA-C Julie Nguyen for two years. Dr. Lin and PA-C Nguyen have treated me with compassion, dignity, and respect. I needed liquid nitrogen treatments, skin biopsies, and two surgeries to treat/remove skin cancer. They worked together as an absolutely fabulous team to ensure I received the treatments I needed. I recommend Unified Medical Center and Urgent Care, Dermatology, 100%! My daughter is a first time patient and I have had the absolute worst experience with Unified Health. Mainly, Dr Lin's office in Westlake Village.
For starters, we arrived 5 minutes late and were told that next time we were late we would be subject to the late fee. When I asked what the policy was, they informed me there was a 15 minute grace period. I verified my appointment time and the front clerk confirmed that I was only 5 minutes late so I was a little confused as to why I would be subject to their late fee when I was 5 minutes late and their late policy is 15 minutes.
But that's not my main gripe. The Dr prescribed my daughter a topical cream that was not covered by our insurance. The pharmacy tried to contact the office but the office never responded. The insurance sent the office and myself a letter of denial and in the letter listed out the exact topical cream that they would approve. Seems simple enough to just prescribe the other cream listed out in the insurance letter.
I have been trying to contact the office for TWO WEEKS and can not get anywhere with them. For starters, it's impossible to contact the office directly. You're sent to a call center and have to deal directly through them. Each time I call, the call center tries to get ahold of the office and I'm placed on a large wait. Currently, on hold for 1 HOUR and counting. Every time I try to contact the office I have to go through the call center and am placed on an incredibly unreasonable hold time. I can't imagine why it would take 1 hour to contact the office.
At one point, I was told that the office would submit for a new claim through my insurance and we would hear in a day or two and they would contact me back directly. That was a week ago. Never heard from anyone. It's been TWO WEEKS since my daughter's appointment and we can not get the office to contact the pharmacy, myself, the call center can't seem to make any progress with them. If I don't have this settled by the end of the week, I'm going to have to drive down to the office and get this simple issue corrected in person. I will NOT be returning nor would I ever recommend Unified Healthcare or this office. I don't understand why it's been so difficult for them to just do something as simple as put in for a different prescription. Or answer the phone. Or why it's damn near impossible to get ahold of anyone. Extremely frustrated.
The recorded hold message has been repeatedly telling me for over the past hour that they "value my time". Clearly that's not the case. I've wasted 2 weeks and countless hours trying to get this issue resolved. I don't understand how business is conducted this way. They don't even deserve the star I gave them, but zero wasn't an option.

He didn’t help at all. Had to take the words out of him by asking questions. He didn’t know what my daughter rash was. Didn’t expect him to by just looking at it. But it seemed like he didn’t care. He told me to put vaseline on her skin. After asking if their any lotion that would help her. Then tells me he can put her back on a prescription that have steroids. She’s only two. I told him I stopped putting that prescription because her other doctor said to. It thins her skin out. And that the prescription he’s going to prescribe me my insurance “May not cover it” turns out my insurance does cover. The Doctor was Michael Lin, MD

Honestly this place is freaking shady !!!! There billing department kept mixing me and my brother up then telling us our insurance is not valid . After about an hour they finally were able to verify mine but could not verify my brothers , even though we are under the same plan/coverage !!! After I was checked out by the doctor I was literally not told or given any explanation of how we were gonna deal with the infection I had . They said ok we’ll call you . I had given them my pharmacy during the sign in process , so I figured ok whatever antibiotics or creams I may need will be at cvs . 3 days later non of my medication is at cvs !! I’m calling and no one picks up and it’s just all super weird and unprofessional.
