SCAM INSURANCE.... IN
My employer switched to this insurance around the beginning of 2024 and it has been HELL. At first we were excited, until we used the card for services that went towards the deductible unknowingly (counseling services the app told us was covered). Also, if you go to your doctor sick DO NOT LET THEM TEST FOR COVID, we got a $150 lab test In the mail for a covid, flu test!! I assume for some people this insurance is great, but why pay almost $300 a month and also have to know your plan INSIDE AND OUT? I miss traditional insurance, where I pay a copay and don't worry about getting additional bills in the mail from the doctor.... this could be the future of insurance, but SideCar has too many bugs to be it!

Just had the unfortunate experience of of hearing how great this company is from 2 reps that couldn't have been more deceptive. It is a 0 coverage plan, with a High Deductible, and higher premiums than we currently pay.

We have this service. Great idea, if they actually paid the amount YOU are being billed. Instead they have their own internal system of how much they think stuff should cost. So if you have a surgery they question everything, make you jump through all sorts of hoops like doctors notes from every visit. Then in the end they pay about half of what it costs. Save your money, just pay cash. This is a useless company.

Run from this insurance company!!! They are trash. They make you do the admin work, and rather than support you, they make things even more difficult because every person you speak with says something different or you have to start from the beginning with your explanation. My company tried this for a year, and we were all unanimous on moving on and paying more. My wife had to do multiple conference calls between our doctors and Sidecar multiple times on the same claim. We have a claim that has not been resolved for 10 months. They sell you on the concept of shopping for lesser rates. Totally not worth what you have to deal with on the back end. Anyone telling you this insurance is great is lying and has to work for Sidecar!

I hate this insurance so much. You get to pay for the privilege of doing a bunch of legwork. First, you're searching for doctors who even accept cash patients, then you have to find one that fits the benefit amount. The rep who talked to us acted like every doctor takes cash because it's preferable but I couldn't find anyone and when I asked Sidecar to do it and look for me, it took them almost a month to find a provider who took cash. Then, the doctor they found me actually EXCEEDS their covered benefit! The visits do not include labwork so you have to get and submit that bill too. Then, you have to ask for an invoice with all of the things they did, listed separately, then submit it (my doctor's office doesn't know what I'm talking about so I'm waiting for their billing department to get back to me). It'll probably be applied to your high deductible so you have to pay anyway. I would never ever recommend this plan to anyone, ever.

Loved this insurance until they stopped providing coverage to individuals, which was really their main target market to begin with. Unfortunate strategic error by the founding team.

Everything health insurance should not be - who wants to shop around when they are ill and worried. Certainly not me. Tried to get a covid shot (which is supposed to be free if you have insurance) I called them to see how to handle it = they told me to give the provider their name and tel number As expected that was not acceptable - I called them while at the appointment and told them what I needed to be able to get the shot - they were very nice and gave me a bunch of numbers - I gave the provider the information and they said when they plugged in the info it was telling them it was just like a discount card and not considered insurance. I only have it because my company decided to try it . A load of rubbish. I would have given zero stars but I had to give it one or wouldn't post.

I'm both a Sidecar Health member and I have been consulting with them as a freelancer for the past several months on the business side. The product is great. It's really going to change the face of health insurance in this country. The customer care team is also awesome from my experience. It's a completely different concept from traditional health insurance, so as a consumer, you do have to do things a little differently. But in my opinion, it's well worth it.

From a company perspective, their mission is to lower overall healthcare costs in the US -- who couldn't get behind that? And the team/leadership is really great to work with. I would definitely recommend this product/company on both a personal/professional basis.
