Nobody comes here on a winning streak, and I was no exception. But my experience at Canyon Ridge truly changed my life. My therapist, Jill R., is not only an outstanding professional but an even better human being. Jill embodies compassion, empathy, and unwavering support. She’s caring, non-judgmental, and genuinely invested in her clients’ well-being—I could go on and on.

Through my sessions with Jill, I’ve gained the tools and confidence to enjoy life in ways I never thought possible. I know how difficult it can be to make the decision to seek help—it takes courage. But I can say with complete certainty: going to Canyon Ridge is life-changing.

I hope someone in leadership reads this and realizes what a gem they have in Jill. She is an absolute angel and personifies everything you could ever hope for in a therapist.

I also want to give a HUGE shoutout to the support staff, especially Cecilia. Her kindness, understanding, and compassion were felt every day. She made each person feel valued and special, and her presence was such a comforting part of the journey.

I am forever grateful for my time at Canyon Ridge. Thank you for giving me the tools to reclaim my life.

I’m so grateful I was sent to this facility. The entire staff is extremely helpful, caring, and patient. The average stars does not do it justice. It is truly a 5 star place. The food was great and the routine was helpful for my stabilization and transition to full recovery. Don’t hesitate when considering this place for yourself or a loved one if the situation gets to this point, though I urge you to seek help before you get to this point. Thank you so much to the professionals at this facility top to bottom.

I was forced to sit in a room from 7am to 8pm watching Disney channel, the entire 72 hour hold I was there I got therapy once. Restricted outside access most of the time, never saw the sun except once for about 30 minutes. The food gave my roommate food poisoning and they fed us day old food more than once. Also gave me the wrong dosage amount and then cut me off completely when I left the mental hospital. Pretty sure this whole place is just fraud considering no matter how much better you get they request more holding time as well as never actually checking up on you.

Also one of the patients knocked out a couple nurses and harmed a few others in the span of a couple minutes, he was left free to roam around with us when he wanted.

I would like to share a positive review. I was in an emergency crisis and had to find a hospital that had an open bed. It was around 8 pm and BHC Alhambra unfortunately didn’t have any beds available. I was crying to the intake that my son was in a crisis and to please find a hospital that I can take him to. BHC assured that they would find somewhere I can take my son, but I would have to drive him there. It was an extremely scary situation and all I knew was that my son needed immediate help. Canyon Ridge had an available bed and was going to take him. I had to have faith in God driving there especially knowing how unpredictable my son’s mental health was.

I left my son and immediately I got a call back from the RN asking questions and the Dr. Alacon. I was able to advocate for my son and saying this was his 4th hold in about 2 weeks. I gave a brief history and exactly what my son was experiencing. It’s been about 7 days and I am thankful Canyon Ridge took their time to evaluate my son. He’s on the right medication and is stable. I am thankful that the Dr. Alacon took my case seriously. I have not felt left in the dark about my son’s care and plan of care for discharge. All I can say is thank you to all Mental Hospitals because true hero’s work there. I don’t believe these hospitals get enough credit for the hard work they do.

Please don’t hesitate to call 911, 988, Suicide Helpine. Mental Health is so important and if you or someone you know struggling Please educate yourself and find resources. Call your healthcare provider and find programs to help. Thank you to my son’s case manager Marlene for collaborating with me on finding places and resources to help my son with his aftercare.

Thank you to all the RN’s and staff working at Unit 1 Please know that your job is very important and you truly make a difference in our community.

Some inpatient staff are better than others. I was misled by staff about when I would be seen by the doctor, which delayed my discharge. I returned one star because other staff made my experience as comfortable as they could.

I had an amazing rehabilitation experience in unit 4 after starving myself and going into spiritual psychosis, the staff dealt with my outbursts as they would a family members, with personality, some slight attitude, yet all the love and care in the world you could expect. even more than what an employee would reasonably be able to provide regularly was given to me freely with heart, care and comfort!

But you also have to understand, If you're sensitive to sleight snark and some tough love to stop you from capping and projecting I can see how this would be a less than five start experience, however, my stay was one completely packed with genuine conversations between staff, patients and even medical students for the purpose of a reset and healing, I truly and genuinely feel like a new person after exiting the facility, someone ready to align their limbic system and neo cortex in order to identify and express my most authentic self!!

Brenda, you are a wonderful person who has a heart of gold under the steely exterior many may misunderstand and I truly appreciate your support! the way you expertly diffused my psychotic questions without being overly demeaning, and keeping me tethered to reality was a breath of fresh air that helped me shake my delusions.

I might even be back in two years in order to pursue a career here, the path is unclear but thanks to canyon ridge resort I can truly accept the mystery of life, or at least, I'm making a whole hearted attempt at this point 🙂

Thank you all so much! Peace and love to everyone, and I hope to be working with the tools you gave me for the rest of my life if not working directly with the wonderful staff.

Please take care and stay safe, everyone!
