The best ER experience I’ve ever had. I have to say ER Nurse Denise has been the sweetest, compassionate and most caring nurse I have ever been around. I come from a family of nurses and emergency room doctors at some of the biggest hospitals in Illinois and she is top notch. She has been such a joy and bright light when my son was treated at St Paul ER in Mendota. I also have to say Dr Dan was great too and very compassionate and kind. Both went way above and beyond and I’ve never had a better ER experience in my life. My son was in agonizing pain with appendicitis and was seen within 2 minutes of walking in the front door. Nothing but positive things.

My best friend/partner came here after having a welfare check done on them. They were in the ER close to 5 hours. Their blood sugar was at 59! The ER doctor treated them like an incompetent child. The only thing the ER doctor did for their low blood sugar was offer them juice. Even after mentioning that their light-headedness they were still sent home as if everything was perfectly normal. Do Not Send Your Loved Ones Here especially if they struggle with stuff like an Eating Disorder.

I went in on October 13, 2023 for Lab Work. While there was a wait for Admitting (Lunch Hour?) I was processed fairly fast for being new to the OSF System. The Lab got me in fairly quick, and while I was waiting for the Tech to find a Vein, she had, and painlessly secured four Vials. Totally Painless. Highly Recommended.

Absolutely wonderful people!!!! Dr Mitchell did my surgery today, and he had so much patience, and kindness reassuring me everything is going to be okay because this is my first ever surgery… I cannot begin to explain the level of professionalism, and kindness, and love everyone here had for me, coming in I had severe anxiety, even at the registration, but they prayed for me and just my whole experience there was the best I’ve ever had!!! Thank you!

I will update this with a very detailed review as soon as I can remember the name of not just Dr. Carmody and Zach, but my amazing nurse as well. They were all amazing went above and beyond, but it would be terrible for me to leave her out when she was so nice and caring while I was there.

Today I spoke with Tara (she said SHE was from the Clinic there), -- Just asking her, routing and a few questions as to whether your hospital has Red Coat type volunteers and volunteer Valet parking; as did OSF St. Margaret's Health in Spring Valley, since, at my advanced age, I need BOTH. She gave me the information, as she knows it. She was so charming and efficient all the way to the end of the call -- I DO hope you reward her in SOME way! She's definitely an asset to your team.
Thanks Tara, and God Bless you!

The staff appeared to be efficient and knowledgeable but the latest case manager (third in the series) that was assigned to my brother-in-law seemed to be deaf to our requests to find a nursing home with hospice care closer to our home. As it was, he was transferred from a relatively close hospital to one nearly an hour's drive from us. We kept reminding her that we were quite a distance from Mendota and as we were my BIL's only relatives who visited, it would be so much easier on us to have my BIL closer to us so that we could visit more often and attend to him should an emergency arise. So her first nursing home suggestion was to Rockford! Not only does this facility have a one star rating, it was under review by Medicare. They really wanted to get my BIL out of St Paul's, no matter the quality of the facility to transfer him to. And...this would have added another hour to our one way commute. Either she is geographically challenged or she just didn't care. We feel that she just didn't care. Also, on a couple of the days when we informed the staff that we would not be able to visit due to our own medical appts and scheduled procedures, she left us messages that she was waiting for us at the hospital. More stress! We understand that the patient is the primary concern, but does this have to be at the expense of the family? This case worker added more stress for us to an already very stressful situation. I certainly would not recommend this place for families in already difficult situations.
