This hospital is inadequate in their services, communication, and skills. There need to be new management from the top down quickly!!!!. I had a family member recently passed at this hospital and the doctor nor nurses had the decency to communicate the passing of my father to my family. The so called ER doctor did not show his face and the nurses there did not have the decency to even say we are sorry for your lost. There need to be some serious empathy training. I know this could NOT be considered a critical access hospital with the lack of skill set and personnel. The ER doctor is a family physician and not ER or Tramua certified. I can only imagine if he had to place an airway or put in a central line. This place have sent many people home that seek their services, told them they were okay, and unfortunately died the next day or days after. You can look all of his information on the louisiana board of medicine. The hospital should not be employing someone who cannot take care of people in an emergency. The people of Winn parish need and deserve better care from someone who cares and have the skills to do so. Not for just they paycheck.

The doctor told me I could return to work with a fracture in my ankle. I Google if I should walk with a fracture the next day and it stated the fracture can worsen and require more intensive treatment. Put me in a boot and told me I could take it off whenever I felt like when I asked him. I do not recommend this hospital or the doctor to anyone with serious injuries.

I’ve had to come here a few times in the last few months. Only good thing about the ER is it’s always empty. But I felt as if I was an inconvenience to the staff and the doctor. The care was adequate. They stopped the bleeding. But the injury sites still ache to this day. The stitching was very sloppy, almost as if it was done by a first year paramedic. But in a trauma emergency there isn’t much of a choice when your bleeding out. I had zero follow up or checkups by anyone at the hospital. They got paid and it seems that’s all they were concerned about. If your not in an emergency situation and can afford an extra 35 minutes. Go somewhere else. But in a pinch, they are ok for a few stitches.

I would do anything you can to avoid this hospital. My mom was a current short term resident at a rehabilitation center in Winnfield. She was sent to the ER from there via EMS.
Winnfield hospital was not equipped to treat her which is totally understandable since they are a small town medical center. The nurse that called me at 1:30am to notify me that they had to transfer her to a bigger, more equipped hospital (Missy or Misty, I can't remember exactly her name) was extremely cold, not compassionate, and rude. I live 4 hours away from my mom and was already emotional and felt so helpless because she was 100% alone and I knew she was scared and nervous. This nurse was letting me know which hospital they were transferring her to and I kindly suggested another that would be more convienient for me since I would have somewhere to stay once I came down to be with her. I asked Missy/Misty to please try and she had the rudest tone of voice and made it seem like I was inconviencing her by making her send over more paperwork because "it's just not that easy" An hour later, when I called to follow up to get an update on my moms transfer. She had the most disgusting attitude. Once we realized that a hospital in Monroe was the only choice, I said "Well, lets do it because thats the only choice we have."
She said something along the lines of "either that or you can sit around and wait for a bed somewhere else and let her kidneys fail".

They also told me that my mom was refusing an IV. I later found out that was NOT the case. They were trying to give her an IV in her NECK without any type of numbing and made it feel like it was HER fault they they didn't have enough skill to find a vein anywhere else.
Advocate for your parents and loved ones that cannot advocate for themselves. I PROMISE you that I will personally drive my butt 4 hours in the middle of the night if I have to to get her to a kind, compassionate, caring, patient focused, center. Winnfield Medical Center is a JOKE. Avoid at all costs.

I was here for abdominal bloating and pain. They found out what was wrong within an hour or so and admitted me. The ER & my regular doctor and nurses I had were really sweet. There was one doctor(on my floor) that was rude, but I don't remember his name. But overall I had a good stay other than the pain and bloating, which finally went away months later. ( With medicine, of course.) They kept the place really clean.

There's an emergency room dr st this place that seriously needs to be removed. I, personally, was told by him I had stubbed my toe. A few days later I was rushed to another hospital with a blood clot in the main artery of my leg.
Last week my daughter in law went to see if her finger was broken. It obviously was . She's having surgery tomorrow to remove bone pieces and put the tendons back together.

I came here in excruciating pain and told them I wanted to be seen for COVID and go get back in the bed at home because it hurts when I sit down. They’re worried about everybody but me and I told the nurse that this is the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. They just left me & aren’t even trying to speed up the process they’re just making me suffer. My back is killing me and the rest of my body is very sore but it’s like they could care less. I’ve been here almost 3 hours and all I want is some pain medicine so I can go home and get back in my bed..
