By far the worst most unprofessional company ever for medical insurance. I called everyday for 8 weeks to get a medication approved that I had been on 6 months with no problems. Tried sending proper documentation to them 30 times via fax, 8 emailed and one fed ex. The number I was using was provided by them. I kept getting told they had not received it. When they finally did say the got it after all of the attempts. I was told 4 weeks for a response. Every time their workers said they were trying to get an update for my appeal they would not be able to reach anyone. After all of this long battle they were bold enough to deny me. When I complained they said please call to discuss. I talked to them multiple times a day and got no where. The health care system is broken especially this one. RUN IF IT IS OFFERED TO YOU!!!!!!!!

I have been a member for three years now through my employer. I appreciate the wellness and massage benefits provided but have not once submitted a reimbursement claim without it first being rejected, with no notice or communication provided to me. For a $100 massage reimbursement I often have to spend an hour of time on providing and then re-providing the correct documentation, and it is now clear to me that the process is purposefully obtuse, designed to discourage members from actually using this benefit. It gives me no confidence in the coverage I'd receive in an actual health crisis.

The worst medical I have ever dealt with. I am very surprised that they even have one star. They mess with peoples health even when provided with all of the information for back up to prove that the medication is provided. I faxed my information 30, Fedex my information and emailed it 8 times to finally have them say that this was received. Only for them to reject me after I was on this medication for 6 months previously with my former PCP and health plan. Very unacceptable!!!!!!!!!

As a provider, I was unable to obtain the deductible information on the portal. I contacted the provider phone number and the deductible amount was not listed on the automated line. I waited 45 minutes for a customer service representative and then was told that I would have to be place back on hold if I needed a second patient's deductible information. Unfortunately, I could not wait another 45 minutes and this is affecting the patient's quality of care.

This company has no care or regard for human lives. I was at college and injured myself playing sports. I needed emergency surgery on my ankle and they had to wait 3 business days to approve it because I was at school and I was in excruciating pain. After surgery they would not approve my medicine that was helping me a lot. They would not cover physical therapy and I had to wait an extra week. Terrible company.

Unfortunately this is a typical insurance company; with empty promises when it comes to coverage. They have also utilized a company “optimum RX” who has a presence in the Boston area. They use Optimum RX as a contracted processing agent whom after lengthy waiting periods and often denied claims, leaves you wondering why HNE is still licensed to operate in Massachusetts. There is a level of indemnification associated with insurance policies. And HNE seems to enjoy using contractors as a firewall to proxy denials in attempt to protect the agency as a whole. I can’t say I’m surprised, but thoroughly disappointed in how they have handled not only my policy, but the policies of my family, employees, and their beneficiaries. Needless to say we’ll be shopping for another provider who may (if even marginally) be an improvement over Health New England. Please do better.

If I could only give zero stars…..Had to get emergency surgery at a hospital and they didn’t pay the bill as promised in our plan. Mind blowing this company is still allowed to do business. We need class action.

I do not recommend this insurance at all! If you are in ongoing treatment stick with your insurance, don’t change! New England insurance denials all my husband’s and mine prescriptions, so much stress less than one month. It unbelievable how they send their own policy over a doctor prescription. Two months without my medication messing up all my treatment. I could write all their non senses replies and phone calls, so please don’t even apologize asking for me to call your call center, bc it doesn’t work at all!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS INSURANCE, just charge a huge amount monthly and they don’t help you at all!
