In the last three months since the new administrator Josh showed up everything has gotten much better than it was prior to him being here… I am comfortable and taken care of there are a few things that could change but you can’t change the food to Ritz Carlton status because it’s a nursing home so it is what it is.. I give this place three stars versus what it was. It’s totally flipped around for the better.therapy is great too.

Staff at the front desk are always pleasant and do their best to answer questions. Even though staffing is short, like everywhere, they try to keep a familiar face on the floor. Now I'm hoping that my Mother-in-law will get a room she will stay in and not move around so much. We like the layout of the room she's in now, but due to freshening up the rooms with new paint, she'll probably be moved again. Hopefully soon she'll have a permanent room so that we do a little decorating to make it more homey. Thank you to all the staff for doing a great job!!!

I am never able to connect w anyone when I call. The prompts for the aswering system tell you the prompt is not active after pushing the number directed. If you do get through, you are always talking to a voice mail that only allows for a 5 second message after an hour of just trying to get through to talk to another human. The communication about my mother is poor at best. I have asked for a transfer of facility multiple times in the last 2 years, with no action and tall tales about applications that were sent, and were not, which is discovered when I follow up with the other facilities. It is soo infuriating!!!

I would rate them zero if I could, they treat their workers terribly. they set a mandate for every nurse and CNA to stay until 3 PM on Christmas due to low staffing, even though they knew about The situation 3 days before hand. They did not inform any of their employees until 10 minutes before they were supposed to leave. People have families and children they need to attend to. The amazing nurses chose to work on Christmas due to their love for the patients but the management has no care in the world for Their employees and treat them terrible.

Even though the nursing staff does their best to care for those under their care while the nurses/aids are understaffed. There are a few issues with the care center it’s self.

1- the food is not the best, orange and cranberry juice is watered down losing its nutrients. Food selections are often repeated, fish or chicken.

2- Food menu is not accurate and miss leading, sometimes over cooked.

3- the office/ administration staff do not return phone calls and support their patients. Even a major Boston hospital has yet received a return call. Apple valley does not follow through! For this, I wouldn’t give them one star.

4- I was released without any prescriptions even though I was told they were in my packet and after a week I have yet received anything.

5- I would also like to point out they claim to have specific nursing care such as wound care nursing, well after being there 2+ weeks, they never visited me even though I had a large hole in my stomach area. It was up to the regular nurses/aids to care for my wound and decide if it was healing and healthy.

I was very impressed with the facility. Everyone that I met was kind and friendly, I came to see where I’d be placing my husband for two weeks of Respite care while I undergo major surgery. I am very confident that he will enjoy seeing new people and surrounding areas. I’ve explained it to him and he’s not protesting. I’m so happy that you have a place for him there.

My brother has been at Apple Valley for several years now.
I have mostly been pleased with communication with staff, staff attention, his care and comfort and hs meals.
However, have had issues with facility taking care of his laundry and the sloppiness of hanging his clothes in HIS closet. Several timesI have found other people’s clothing in his closet!!!!
NOT ACCEPTABLE.
In addition, I think Housekeeping could do a better job cleaning resident rooms and table and window surfaces.
So in conclusion, care is excellent, but ancillary services could be better.

This is the benefit of living in a small town. A small nursing home attached to a hospital. All through COVID they went above and beyond to keep our loved ones safe. There is a solid core staff that are local and have been there for years, they define dedicated. Is it perfect? No place is, but they listen and respond. They care. They have had staffing challenges but do their best and they truly care, The new Administrator seems very engaged. We are grateful always.
