I’ve been really happy with my experience at the Barnstable YMCA! I have been going on a daily/weekly basis for the past year. The child watch service is fantastic — my kid loves it, and I can enjoy my workout or school work worry-free. It’s so COST EFFICIENT because the child watch is already built into my membership!!! The 2 staff members will watch my child for up to an hour and a half everyday. The gym equipment is top-notch, and the spacious atmosphere makes it a pleasure to train without feeling cramped. I notice all of the staff is quite friendly and easy to talk to, Chris; at the front desk is always a kind, bright smiling face. I also appreciate how judgment-free the environment is, making it a welcoming place for everyone. A special shoutout to Joshua, the trainer, who is incredibly knowledgeable and always offers helpful advice and exercises to improve my workouts. Overall, a great experience at the YMCA, and I highly recommend it! This is especially helpful for younger families who want exceptional care for their little ones in addition to having time for self- care as a parent or caregiver.

I’ve had the most wonderful experience with the Child Watch Center. The staff is warm and inviting. They are very engaging and work to ensure the children and comfortable and happy. I couldn’t say enough good things about the Child Watch Center. After 5 years of Motherhood I am happily able to work out again and my children are well cared for. Thank you!

Front desk is rude. I called prior to coming and told
them I was visiting the cape and I had a 3 year old and wanted to work out and they told me on the phone it was $10 to work out and $10 for the childcare for 1.5 hours. I get there and they look at me rudely and talk to me rudely I felt profiled as well because I do have a lot of tattoos and piercings. They then told me I had to be a member and couldn’t just pay for services which is a total lie because my uncle visits and he was already upstairs and paid for his workout session. Wouldn’t recommend going here at all totally disgusted with the experience.

I got a one month pass for the Cape Cod YMCA in West Barnstable while visiting from Quebec for 5 weeks and I couldn't be happier. Love the pool, the gym-training room, the kindness of the staff. I wasn't sure, given several bad reviews; but, so far, my experience is top notch and I plan to train there several times per week, when there is too much wind to paddle or cycle.

Did the free week and liked the gym enough even tho it is def outdated. Was going to sign up for a membership but the front desk has been nothing but extremely rude each time I visited. Does Rita at the front desk get paid more to be terribly rude and degrading to each guest? I watched her yell and laugh at an elderly man trying to sign up for a membership because his home address is in ptown and she said “u really think ur gonna drive all the way from ptown to use the gym?” This wasn’t her only snarky comment towards him either. Today I showed up asking Rita to sign me in (that’s what I was told to do for the free week trial) and she said “you can’t the free week is over” I told her the other woman told me if I signed up Monday it was good until the following Monday. Then Rita said “oh sign in you just told me you want to sign up” I’m being gaslit and bullied lol extremely rude and unprofessional staff

These employees here are the rudest and the most unprofessional especially on the phone. I told the front desk I’m looking for a swim schedule for my 7 year old. She ask me what’s a 7 year old doing here Really. I could help she was annoying by her tone on the phone when I was just asking general questions. This place is a joke. With there was some other pool areal in Hyannis becz this place has literally gone to the dogs!!!!!

If you just want swim lessons for a very young child you would do just as well to get a cheaper pool membership and take them there once a week or so to get comfortable in the water. We signed up for baby swim lessons here and have been very disappointed.
Lessons are about 25 minutes long, showers usually are ice cold, and there is very little actual instruction. Classes are often canceled and pool often closed with no notification. Have asked repeatedly to be added to the pool closure list and still show up only to be informed that we can’t swim today.
The pool is closed for repairs surprisingly frequently (twice that I know of this month), and with what they charge for memberships it’s surprising. Our instructors are often absent leaving only a teenage boy lifeguard who “instructs” the class by sitting silently at the side of the pool. Changing room has only one changing room that accommodates changing a young child in and out of a diaper. Not sure what exactly we are paying for.

We have signed up for 1 week of Camp in Harwich with the expectation to attend entire summer, but wanted to see how the child (7yr old) adopts. 3 days later we dropped it as we as the parents were worried about her safety and the kid felt super uncomfortable. She fell and hit her stomach. The camp lead calls parents and tells us she has belly ace and probably gassy.... she keeps a kid waiting an hour before calling us, then calling us with no urge until we picked her up and got the whole story straight. She had a bruise and felt nauseaous. We communicated back to the lead and superiors about this huge miscommunication which was not ok. They blamed the child not showing her injuries - of course not, as she was not comfortable around her who has been yelling at kids to hurry all day long and not making this relaxing environment. For heavens sake this is a camp and not military. However, we didn't make a huge deal as we were still understanding that things happen and just asked for a refund of the rest of the day and a half that she did not attend as noone of us felt safe returning there. There have been 3 weeks of email threads and us being tossed from one 'manager' to another and guess what- no response! What type if business this is? Will we ever refer thos place or go to? Never! Please protect your kids especially from Harwich YMCA camp! My family have been a members of Ymca for decades and here we are treated as another number.
