My loved one had a wonderful short term rehab experience. He was here for a week and Therapy staff went above and beyond as well as the nursing team. I would recommend this facility to family and friends or anyone who may be seeking short term rehab for themselves or a loved one.

Having been at a multitude of these types of facilities in the past I can tell you Chestnut Hill is one of the best. The CNAs are wonderful, the food is great, there are plenty of activities. The Administration is throughout and efficient as well.

You would think that a place like this that is meant to care for people that can’t care for themselves Would be nicer to the people that need care. my mom has been there for about a week and she has experienced people trying to dictate pain medication and people just being mean for no reason why do they have to be that way is this type of job? People should have big hearts and a joyful Character. Then when a person complains the staff treat them even worse.

This place is outstanding. They have been thoughtful, thorough and caring to my father during his 75 day rehab for a broken leg. They have gone above and beyond in working with doctors and evil insurance companies. His physical therapy was positive and very helpful. The nursing staff took care of him like he was a family friend. The social worker worked diligently to make sure he got everything he needed from the insurance provider. Sometimes she had to fight tooth and nail but she never gave up. I have seen how some patients and family members treat the staff and it's shameful. The poor reviews are false and due to the bad attitude of the writers. I don't want my dad to have to go to rehab again, but if he does I would go here in a heartbeat.

Mother went in for rehab for compression fracture of spine. I asked them to call me with care plan meeting. I was never contacted about any care plan meeting, there was absolutely no communication reguarding her care while she was there. They discharged her and sent her home via transport van without notifying anyone in the family. How does anyone send an 81 yr old woman with mild - moderate dementia home without notifying the family. I am totally disgusted!!

The short term rehab is absolutely horrible.
If you care about your family member, do not go there.
They have no compassion and could care less about the patient.
I am appalled at the care that they gave my family member.
And, not to mention, very dirty
So sad.
One person who stood out for compassion and care was Valerie.

She was the only one that seemed to care.
I could go on and on but it is unconscionable how people in this profession just don’t care.

Our relative was recently placed at Chestnut Hill for short term rehab. The experience there was a negative one.
Dirty, dingy, and ill kept facility. Trash and debris littered the floor and smears of unknown origin on the floor.
Documentation and note keeping by all staff was minimal and lacking.
PT and OT supposed to be scheduled 5X/week-did NOT happen. PT and OT were spotty and inconsistent at best (only three 1/2 hour sessions over a two week period). Our relative was here to get short term rehab with the goal of getting back home and the staff at this facility did not provide.
Phone in room was inoperable for our patient’s entire short term stay. Our relative does not have a cell phone and has to rely on the landline provided. Incoming calls would not go through for a majority of the stay and sometimes our patient could not place outgoing calls. Despite family and friends repeatedly requesting a working phone line, the administration could not deliver. A working phone line is a basic service.
No working tv remote. If your patient is bedridden, as ours was, this is a problem because one can’t change the channel, lower or raise the volume, or turn the tv off or on, without bothering the beleaguered staff.
I will make sure my extended family and friends know about the subpar conditions and treatment at Chestnut Hill of East Longmeadow.

The lack of knowledge amongst the rotating staff is quite frustrating, especially when it comes to what the patient's medical history is, why they are there and what the patient requires. I was advised records were "too big" to review, apparently that is supposed to be an acceptable excuse. The response time for a call bell anywhere will be an issue, however, Chestnut Hill certainly seems to take the winnings in this department - multiple times now it has taken 25 to 45 minutes for anyone to respond to the call bell. It seems also the PT department does not discuss care plans with the nursing staff - or so that was the recent excuse when questioned what the plan for the day might look like. Wound management needs to be improvised as they expect patients to offload and side tilt themselves for relief, when they are unable due to weakness/cognitive impairments. Return calls from case managers are intermittent, good luck. It hasn't been a delightful experience by any means. It would be lovely to see some accountability taken by the staff, but I'm sure this review will be brushed aside, like the many before it.
