Our mom was a patient recently, she received very good care. The staff were all very friendly and pleasant. The physical therapist Jean was so upbeat and attentive, she does a great job along with the Occupational Therapy staff. CNA Divey would go up and above her duties to make our Mom happy and comfortable. The Sosin unit is beautiful and comfortable for the residents and family members. An overall great experience, thank you to all the staff!

Just spent some time there with friends recently. It took me back to when my Mom received wonderful nursing care there after a stroke years ago. She passed away after receiving such loving care from staff of all levels. Her last days were hard on her and us, due to being in her right mind, while having next to no independent functions, except speaking. Activities and spiritual services made her days, dare I say, pleasant. And the new renovations are welcome additions.

This is the place to go if you need rehab because they definitely know what they are doing. The place is so beautiful and the food is like home cooked meals.

The service is lousy. My mother spent a few weeks in that place and it was more the altercations with the nurses and the food. I had to go several times at night because my mother did not receive her medicines at her time. The lousy food on many occasions my mother went to bed without eating and without having her other meals of the day, on one occasion she received an empty breakfast plate. There are good people who are part of the staff that are worth mentioning for the attention they gave my mother on many occasions. The facilities are very nice and clean but what abuse they also have with part of the employees of this place 12 patients per nurses that contributes to a lousy service because they cannot cope. The maintenance guys do wonders with what they can. And another thing that I will not let go of, there is no one to serve as a translator with people who do not speak fluent English, patients whose first language is Spanish do not know how to defend themselves will have a worse time. It is law to offer this service and more if it is a medical institution. Think carefully before leaving a family member there. Orient yourself to everything, so that your family member does not suffer! That is their right, there they are paid and enough for them to provide a respectable service to human beings with some kind of disability. THEY ARE NOT ANIMALS ON A FARM. It is frustrating to see your mother suffering and the frustration of the ineptitude of certain staff, hearing your mother crying that she is in pain and hungry for me was one of the most horrible experiences I have lived with my mother. The fact of hearing her cry made me coarse.

This retirement home is a real gem. There are so many details which make it very charming: The staff goes to the trouble to have regular picnics for the residents; when meals are served lively music is played on every floor of the home; the staff goes to an enormous effort to tend to the individual needs of each resident and patient; the physical therapy department is very devoted to the care of their patients; the food is like home-cooking and the staff works extremely hard - at JGS they truly care. Thank you for doing such a great job!

My mom needed the services of Sosin after having had a stroke. The setting is beautiful, comfortable and very home-like. The care that she received was wonderful, and after an extended stay, she was able to move back to her own home. The staff were all invested in helping to get my mother well.

Update 4/5-
Since commenting, I have to say my complaints have been taken very seriously. I've been contacted twice, from a gentleman named Bob, whose title I forget, but overseas operations. He has also gone and spoken to my mother more than once. Once he became involved, things changed rather quickly, and were resolved. He continues to follow up on the situation. I am pleased that my concerns were heard and were tackled immediately there after. I appreciate his involvement. I felt I needed to update my original post and raise the star count because of the actions taken after my concerns.
Initial post-
The facility is gorgeous, you couldn't ask for a more serene, warm atmosphere. The staff are warm and welcoming also. The experience unfortunately so far has been upsetting and frustrating. I don't know who is to blame, Baystate for transferring my mother to soon or rehab for not responding more seriously. At Baystate my mom was receiving pain meds prior to discharge/transfer. She was transferred late in the day on a Friday. She arrived to rehab with a weekend staff on premises. She's been crying in pain since she arrived, it is now almost noon on Monday. She and family have repeatedly asked for something more for her intense pain besides Tylenol. The response has been, that's all that's listed in her chart, the weekend doctor doesn't know her so they won't order anything else, a nurse practitioner will be in sometime Monday (she arrived Friday!). I'm sorry but if you have a patient who is in that much pain, then a nursing facility should be able to respond to a patients needs more attentively than wait till Monday. I find this answer unacceptable. This is unnecessary pain, stress, emotional distress and poor healing management of a case. I personally have been there each day and made phone calls still to no avail. Because of this I have not given full stars
11:12pm Monday, update-
My mother still has not received her pain meds ordered by the PA she saw around 3pm! Three days now without pain meds. I was told she'll receive them soon, when I visited this afternoon. I had to pull the information out of the nurse this evening, who I now feel was trying to circumvent the situation by not be open with the actual facts, that being they infact don't even have the med on the unit. This is after being told she'd get it soon!! Iam totally appalled by the length of time this situation has been going on and the general lack of care regarding this matter. I'm at my wits end, knowing my mother will spend another sleepless night in intense pain because she still isnt receiving her pain medication. If I was able to comfortably and easily move my mother
I would discharge her now and have her treated elsewhere. Totally disgusted as of now!

My daughter worked there and was treated unfairly she was doing meanly all the work while CNA that have been working for years in that facility slept on their shifts my daughter went to work and the nurse found a Patient Deceased in his bed that no one on the shift check up on him my daughter said that patients were wet in pee that the shift beforehand hers never changed patients they move my daughter to unit 2 and the head nurse told my daughter if she can go help a patients that fell from his bed and was on the floor my daughter never went back to work there if you have family there please check up on them because they are being treated badly there they take patients a bath with hand wash not soap this place needs to be investigated I feel there patients are in danger I told my daughter that she needed to find another job she wasn't happy the older CNA PICKED ON MY DAUGHTER SHE COMPLAINED AND WAS TOLD TO WALK AWAY WHEN THIS CNA HAS ALOT OF COMPLAIN AND NO ONE HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT THIS PLACE IS UNSAFE FOR ANY ONE FAMILYmy daughter has pictures of the CNA sleeping on on her shift this place is disgusting
