Kim really helped my husband over the past two years. Since his counselor left the staff seems to have issues calling for insurance authorization and keeping file current. Issued 3 times if they had our insurance info and was told no. I also asked three times if they received authorization. My insurance company told me ATS never contacted them about authorization. Someone there needs to look into what is going on.

I have been with elkton comp. For over 2yrs. I have never had a bad experience and my counslers have allways been more then helpful. Recently, after the the state recall i came into the clinic without my mask for over a week with no issues. Once told i returned the next day mask on....only to find that i was to be repremanded for a refused mask. The story is to lobg to explain, but i was deff. Unruly punished. And the responce of the director was only made to make me seem unruly. Its a shame that a facility i accredit for my sobriety would ignore me when it comes to a nursing staff sthat belives her belifes are more importent then the patient or the rules conserning others

Although I would not say that Elkton Treatment Center is horrible, but it still comes in number three out of three for clinics I've been a member of. Some staff genuinely care while others seem to just see it as a job. Ive hoped that this wasn't the case for a long time now ,however ,no matter how positive one experience can be; an equally negative one seems to be waiting just ahead around the corner. I wish I could say this happens less frequently than it does, that the good it was the bad but in the case of ETC it's often 50/50.
Although I am grateful for my counselor and the treatment I receive, it's been a long, slow process to get here . The problem that ETC faces that seems to set most of their troubles In motion is the constant change of staff members and what that brings. Along with new councilors & Drs with there changes in groups & group times comes anxiety and stress with the shift in staff hierarchy and the occasional authoritarian figures . All the while, patients are supposed to accept all the major changes which makes more anxiety and distrust between patients and staff. Communication between both parties is necessary to get what's needed, which can get complicated at times.
Most of my time at ETC I've found a comfortable environment to grow and heal. And change is necessary with improvement. Unfortunately in recent months, many changes have happened suddenly and frequently, often changing the rules without notice or concern for how seriously it impacts our lives, lives that are dependent on a system that should think heavily before arbitrarily setting rules into motion , developed by new staff whose ethics, views on addiction and on the MAT they aid in on a daily basis along with the personal education vary greatly from their predecessors. This action without proper thought and planning time and time again heavily impacts and disrupts my life and the lives of other patients, unnecessarily and extensively uprooting our lives and the lives of those we love through the disruption of our daily routine by implementing new and excessive rules.
Any policy changes bringing sudden changes in curriculum/ expectations & weekly requirements are often daunting for those of us who have full time jobs and families. By requiring unrealistic goals of us in order to move forward in our treatment (changing dose, takehomes etc) benefits no one. For most of us this leaves almost no time for work and little for family, which in my case was the point of treatment to begin with. Family= support, stability, safety net. Work=structure, healthy mindset and financial stability for myself and my family. Taking time from these just to meet the expectations of yet another new staff member who may or may not be with us a year from now would be a step back in my recovery, negatively impacting my family, and hindering my ability to keep my job. Likely causing my family and I to be homeless again, putting them through what my addiction did only this time in the name of recovery.
And though I have my complaints there are much worse places it in the world advertising help. However at ETC I do believe they mean well, and after all recovery isn't going to be easy. So yes I would recommend ETC. They could save your life and maybe give you back hope, just remember there are two sides to each coin (heads and tails) and three to every story (theirs , yours and the truth); so take the good with the bad and find your own interpretation of the facts.
