Went in for abdominal pain... ended up being my appendix... went in Thursday 2amish, got checked out, had surgery, and then was heading home that same Thursday around 1pm.... in and out less then 12hrs.. what!!

Granted the following week I was there way way longer but they had 2 extreme emergencies come in at the same time (life or death) and then a 3rd followed... theykept us posted and checked on us regularly... was out of their control

All in all was a wonderful experience and I had some amazing nurses!!

My wife had a bad fall and fractured her upper arm on Labor Day weekend. ER staff was polite, courteous and professional. They took care of her, worked her up, and got us in and out as quickly as they were able to.

This was by far the worst hospital experience I've ever dealt with in my life. My fiance went in to be treated for a high risk rabies bite. The bite was deemed high risk by a veterinary hospital connected to the University of Pennsylvania -- the animal in question was exhibiting strong signs of having rabies and, since it bit a human, had to be euthanized by law. We were told to get a rabies vaccine ASAP, but unfortunately that night we went to two hospitals that were severely and dangerously understaffed in the city and would have had to wait indefinitely. Since the CDC advises that you need the vaccine ASAP but within 24 hours, we decided to do this early the next day. Bear in mind that he is uninsured and we were willing to pay out of pocket for a vaccine, however much it costs without insurance, because his life was in jeopardy. We went to the ER at Union Hospital hospital in Maryland, as it was convenient on the way to a work event and we figured the wait time would be short. The entire time he was there, he was treated to stories of "a woman came in the other week who had waited three weeks after being bit to get her shots and she was fine!", some coming from nurse staff and some from intake staff. Symptoms of rabies can show at 3 weeks at its earliest, and when symptoms have appeared, it is TOO LATE and the illness has a VERY HIGH DEATH RATE. I highly doubt this woman was "fine," but as far as vitals she checked out okay and was able to be released from their hospital. While my fiance was there, at no point did he see a doctor; he saw nurse staff that brought him through the ringer about getting a rabies post-exposure vaccine. They called the 24 hour vet and said there was "no proof" that the animal was there or that it had rabies (I was able to obtain this information with a simple email); they called the Health Boards of MD and PA, the latter of which spoke to him to say that "it's his choice to get the shots now but he has more time to do so" (which is inconsistent with what the CDC says), but the nurses at Union Hospital took this to mean that it's "policy" not to give the rabies shots now, and that they're "just following policy" -- even though what the Health Board actually said was that he could choose to do it now or a little later. At no point did he see a doctor, just incompetent nurse staff that did not seem to know or care about the scope of the issue and how deadly this was. I feel in my gut that this is medical malpractice, and only hope that other patients at this hospital who are in similar situations receive the care they need instead of being denied it. We were finally able to go to another hospital, Virtua Hospital in New Jersey, who let us in right away and gave him the shots he needed. I am floored by the unfair and unjust treatment he received at Union Hospital. He's uninsured and was going to pay out of pocket anyway -- why deny him something that could save his life?

Had a very positive experience. Came in with heart palpitations and a rapid heart rate, they took me back for an EKG, a chest x-ray, checked all my vitals, ran some tests, and got me a fluid IV. When I came in my heart rate was around 100 and fluttering, by the time I left and got home it was back in the 60's where it usually is, and I haven't had any more palpitations. Took a little long to get from the EKG to a bed, but I'm sure if I had more serious symptoms they would have taken me back right away. Plus it was busy, so I'm fine looking the other way.

I was latterly in my own apace and I even asked if I could have a private room and they put me in curtains while I was having a panic attack and I was told to watch my language and to act like an adult. I was having a panic attack and couldn't control what I was doing and I was told to leave after I asked to leave when I was told I wasn't gonna be given a private room in the first place. Their very disrespectful and don't care about the fact that theirs a pandemic either CDC says everyone must be 6 feet apart and they put me in a waiting room full of people that were right next to each other their seats are not 6 feet apart.

Had to go for a work related injury. Doctor barely did an exam, didn't address a few of my symptoms and didn't document everything appropriately. Nurse was nice and tried her best but was very busy.

I had covid twice and today I had to go to the ER and I asked them if I could wait in my car because the the waiting room was full of people and they told me no you have to wait inside or they won't see you. The cdc and state require a 6 FOOT distance you would think an ER of all places would require 6 FOOT distance. That's crazy they don't inform that. Their putting so many people at risk of getting covid and spreading covid from people that already have it. BE CAREFUL CHOOSING YOUR ER!!!!

All staff and providers were competent, accommodating and thorough while treating my toddler. It was a true emergency with a choking 2 yo who was in and out of consciousness. I wish I could remember everyone by name. They all deserve commendations for the work they do.
