10.5 hours in the waiting room with “abnormal” EKG. This is the entirety of information I got in that span of time in regards to the electrocardiography findings.
To say it was disappointing would be an understatement. I tried very hard to be extremely patient as I realize that if it were catastrophic, they likely would have brought me right back. Unfortunately, after 10.5 hours I told them that I had to leave. I asked if they could just tell me what the abnormality was on the EKG and they said only a doctor could Provide that information (which i truly so understand)so I would have to continue waiting Buttttttt my blood work looked good. I Reluctantly went home, wondering if I was a ticking time bomb. I know some of the most incredible nurses and doctors that work in that ER, but unfortunately, the Waiting room needs some serious serious work in keeping patients feeling safe and comfortable.
The woman I was seated with in the waiting area, had a broken femur and waited there 6 1/2 hours before she was seen, given any kind of medication, x-rays, or a bedpan to use the bathroom. Again, I am sure they work very hard to provide top-tier care once behind the door but unfortunately, with the combination of so many local hospitals, closing and mental health facilities closing These poor people are bombarded with work beyond capacity. A man struggling with mental health issues stared me down and followed me around the waiting area every time I moved because I was uncomfortable he then Proceeded to tell everybody about how he was murdered before and he found the secret to feeling better and its enemas. Yeah so we can do better. Just communication alone works wonders. Half the people in there just need a hug or a quick triage to tell them they’re OK and they’ll be out Of the way, including myself.

My experience at Salem Hospital was overall positive. I was taken into triage and given a room fairly quickly, which I appreciated. The staff were friendly and professional, and the doctors were attentive in evaluating my condition within a reasonable time frame.

While hospitals can be stressful, the team did their best to make the process smooth. There were some expected wait times, but overall, the care I received was thorough. I appreciate the staff’s efforts and the quality of service provided.

A few weeks ago, I had to rush my son to Salem Hospital by ambulance after a dog bite, and from the moment we arrived, the pediatric team provided the best care imaginable. Not only did they treat him with expertise and compassion, but they also went above and beyond by recommending a plastic surgeon at Mass General to ensure the best possible outcome for his healing.

My son required follow-up rabies shots, which meant additional visits—three more times to be exact. Every single time we came in, every person we interacted with was absolutely incredible. The kindness, patience, and professionalism of the entire staff made what could have been a traumatic experience into something seamless and reassuring.

What truly amazed me was how they handled my son. He is almost three years old, and I’m sure anyone can imagine how terrifying it could be for a toddler to get shots. But the staff made everything so easy, comforting him in a way that made him feel safe and happy. He was never scared—something I never expected in a hospital setting. Their efforts lifted so much weight off my shoulders as a parent, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

I’m not usually one to write reviews, but exceptional care and kindness should never go unnoticed. Thank you to the entire pediatric team at Salem Hospital for making such a stressful time so positive for us in every way. Your dedication and compassion truly make a difference!

The staff is amazing here!! The nurses are the sweetest I’ve ever met!! Sometimes the wait time can be a little long, but worth It once you get seen!! One of the nurses, Tyler, made everything so smooth and his positive energy made me feel so comfortable!! Great staff!!

I'm home from a 30 day stay. I am so grateful for the incredible care that I received. I've been in a lot of hospitals in the past 10 years, all we're great but I have to say that my experience at Salem Hospital was second to none. The wonderful staff went the extra mile in every instance. High praise all around. With Thanksgiving next week, I now have one more thing to be grateful for. Peace

While individuals were kind the overall experience was horrible. I was told to come at 8 for a 9 procedure time. Took me in at 8:20. Got prepped and waited for an hour before thy procedure. Asked for my book and glasses and was told no because they want to move quickly when they are ready (so I should lie there and stare at the patient across from me since they don’t draw the curtains?). There was nothing to distract me as I nervously awaited. Was completely awake during the procedure and felt everything. While not painful it was disconcerting. I told them I was awake and they shrugged. I’ve been to other facilities that let whoever is with you stay until they take you away and also let you have reading materials until they are ready for you. And you are knocked out enough to be unaware of what is occurring and not feeling anything. Absolutely do not go here. They are not patient centric by any standard.

I have never been treated so good by the staff at a hospital and I mean that. I have cyclic vomiting and I am in and out of the hospital it is hell and they treat me with compassion and respect at Salem. Thank you so much Salem hospital for taking care of me. I was in the ER tonight for severe pain in my head and one of the ER nurses at her station was obnoxiously loud, chatting to her fellow peers about her recent Disney trip and going on about how misbehaved her kids were and how they were peeing their pants a lot or something along those lines.. and then she proceeded to talk about how she one time shoved 2 tampons up by mistake… This an ER for those with medical emergencies… Absolutely inappropriate is putting it mildly!!! Meanwhile there was someone vomiting their life away in the room next to mine and I also had to push the call button for a nurse to come which took minutes as she proceeded to yap away. I was appalled. My nurse Aimee however was kind and professional.
