Program rise begin as a syringe Exchange program for people in active addiction. It became so much more than just that. There are counselors there, they have more resources than many other places in the Metro West area. Caroline is amazing as is Aron and all of the staff of this program. They have stepped up during the pandemic to provide so much assistance to my wife and I. Because of their help my wife and I are currently out of active addiction and have achieved sobriety. They have also offered clothing and resources that are donated such as soaps shampoos other toiletries necessary for people who are having difficulties with affording simple necessities. Sometimes just the simple things can help a person feel human again and program rise has stepped up to the plate and made my wife and I not only feel human again but we feel worth something more than addiction. Program rise also offers testing for STDs as well as assistance in finding doctors that are necessary for a person's physical and mental health. I will actively work to spread the benefits of this program. And I am hopeful that they received the funding necessary to continue going. They also offer narcan and training in the event of an overdose. In these times we cannot just pretend that addiction is nothing more than bad behavior. We need to see it for what it truly is. It is a disease. And beyond the disease is a human being with a real family, a heart, a brain, and all of the things that make a person a true person. I pray that this program continues and I will do whatever it takes as a citizen and as a person who has struggled with addiction to insure that this program continues to offer the benefits that they have provided for my wife and myself. We would not be alive if it was not for program rise. I don't know how else I could spread the word that program rise is available to those who need it or would like to see themselves change and become sober through their own decision to do so. So to everyone involved in program rise from the bottom of my heart I thank you. I am only alive today because you have assisted my wife and I in doing so.
