My wife was a patient here, and while the birthing center was decent, everything else about this clinic is absolutely appalling. I don’t typically leave negative reviews, but this place deserves every word.

For two months, my wife reached out repeatedly for help with an urgent health issue, only to be met with complete disregard and incompetence. The staff were not only rude and dismissive, but they also gave her the runaround every single time. They claimed her case was 'under review,' yet couldn’t tell us who would be handling it or when we’d get any answers. How is it possible that no one knew anything about her care?

When we finally demanded to speak to the general manager, Maria A., the staff seemed to go out of their way to avoid connecting us with Maria A. After a lot of waiting on the phone for an hour and asking to speak with the manager over and over again, we got her on the phone, only for Maria to be dismissive, unhelpful, underhanded, and manipulative. She promised to write down the information and a referral to a director named Annette Payot, and of course, they never contacted us either. Nothing has been solved for us. Time is in the essence and they do not care about your time. They are all not just awful staff, but awful people. I’ve never seen a team where they are all just awful.

This clinic has absolutely no respect for their patients or their health concerns. If you care about your health and well-being, do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs.

I came to PCC in Berwyn because of their birthing center, which I initially loved. The idea of a water birth spoke to me, and I was looking for a supportive place for my care. They seemed supportive—until the day I actually went into labor.

I started labor with my daughter on a Saturday morning and called the birthing center line to inform them, expecting understanding and guidance. Instead, I was met by a dismissive and unprepared midwife. She questioned if I was even sure I was in labor, and after I confirmed, she made it about her, saying she wasn’t 'ready' for a birth so early in the morning. Shockingly, she asked if I could just wait it out so she could 'prepare.' This was beyond unprofessional, but I still waited a bit longer. The pain soon became unbearable, and when I called again, she still tried to delay my arrival. I had to insist that I was coming in.

Because my daughter was born on a weekend, I couldn’t use the birthing center at PCC and was sent to West Suburban. When I arrived, this midwife continued to center her needs, mentioning repeatedly how tired she was and how much she needed coffee. Her attitude felt manipulative, almost as if she wanted me to feel guilty for going into labor when it was inconvenient for her. The hospital staff ended up being far more supportive than the very midwife I’d planned on trusting for my delivery.

Since then, it’s only gotten worse. There are multiple errors in my records, incorrect dates and information, and despite reaching out multiple times for corrections, I’ve received no response. Every time I asked to speak to the general manager, staff ignored my requests, which seemed like a deliberate attempt to prevent accountability. After insisting for weeks, I was finally connected with Maria A., the general manager. Maria was dismissive, uncaring, and seemed uninterested in addressing my concerns or the staff’s blatant mistakes. She promised to refer me to a director, yet, unsurprisingly, I never heard from them.

I’m left in the same position, calling and asking to be heard, yet continuously ignored. It’s infuriating and frankly sickening that a medical facility supposedly dedicated to health and patient care could be so unprofessional, unethical, and outright negligent. The level of disregard I experienced here has me seriously questioning the integrity of this clinic.

If you value compassionate, professional care, I strongly recommend staying far away from PCC in Berwyn. I can’t fathom how they have positive reviews, and I wouldn’t be surprised if many are from staff or their associates.

I absolutely love this place if you're an expecting momma to be! The midwives here are phenomenal. I had, Annette as my midwife throughout my whole prenatal care and she was/has been amazing with me. This was my first pregnancy and she always answered all my questions with no hesitation. I unfortunately didn't have her when it was baby time, but like I mentioned all their midwives are absolutely amazing. Claire delivered my baby and it was such an amazing experience. I delivered at their alternative birthing center at West sub and would highly suggest it to any mama that wants to go the unmedicated route. I drive an hour there and back for all my appointments and would do it again for my next pregnancy!

Giving birth at The Birth Center was such a wonderful experience! As a first time mama that wanted to take the most natural route during pregnancy and birthing as possible, the entire midwife team was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. I transferred here from my OB at 32 weeks with such ease. They also have a Midwife On-Call number that you can literally call at anytime once you are a patient and if they don’t answer right away, they return the call within a few hours. When the day came for our baby boy to be born, we called the number and were guided to come in at the appropriate time.

I was able to go through my entire birth plan with the midwives and was honored in my decision to practice Hypnobirthing, be completely unmedicated, and have my privately hired doula with me the entire time. Once baby was born, he never left my or my husbands arms. We did delayed chord clamping, and immediate skin-to-skin contact that lead to immediate breastfeeding. The team is equipped to accommodate the most natural birth while also having the facilities to accommodate emergencies should they arise. If the need to transfer to a hospital is necessary, they have an organized plan and relationship with west Suburban Hospital which is only a 7-minute drive away.

Their lactation consultant, Mary Sommers, is incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. She is also the teacher of the mandatory birthing class which we were able to do virtually from the comfort of our own home. Our on-call Midwife was Mary Kay who was wonderful. She was incredibly accommodating and helped keep the birthing room comfortable throughout our entire time there.

Once baby was born, mom and dad and baby were all given the space to sleep in the queen sized bed and rest before we decided to when to go home.

The birthing room has a tub that is a comfortable size for both mom and dad. There is also a standing shower and private bathroom in each birthroom. The entire clinic is very accommodating for family in friends who would like to wait in a waiting room that has a mini kitchenette.

Biggest plus for us…this entire experience was completely covered my Medicaid.

Downside…because this is a small birth center they don’t have enough funding to have an on-call on-site midwife on weekends. So had we gone into labor on a weekend, we would have delivered at West Suburban’s Birth Center. Thankfully my contractions started on Wednesday and baby came in Thursday.

I would HIGHLY recommend birthing at The Birth Center of PCC South!
