I've been a patient at TransHealth for medication management. My experiences were okay. I think TransHealth provides essential services to our community while having some growing edges.

My first impression of the provider was phenomenal. I felt listened to, respected, and given a lot of autonomy in my care. Beyond competence with gender and sexuality, I felt understood in other identities and comfortable sharing complex experiences.

Some issues led me to seek care elsewhere, however. It is difficult to be in touch with the main office by phone, sometimes you get through and sometimes you don't. I had appointments cancelled frequently. And, most important to my decision to leave, I met with a student/intern instead of my main provider without notice after two rounds of cancellations. During that session I was prescribed new medication. The thing is, with my new provider at a different office, I learned that the medication this person prescribed me has a major drug interaction with another one of my medications that I had been on for over a decade. I was extremely lucky to not have anything happen during the overlap period.

While the clinicians and staff are considerate and good are what they do, this practice does not provide a sufficient level of care. Getting med refills is simply never a smooth or predictable process. And despite me personally speaking with the CEO on the phone a year ago because their voicemail says to ask pharmacies about your refills (which is terrible advice for anyone on controlled substances like stimulants, a frequently prescribed med class for any mental health prescriber), that message still stands.

Doctor was very kind and caring to my daughter. They listen to her needs and let her talk about anything, which was nice for her to talk to somebody about that. And they also talked about what she was looking to do and what routes she can go through. And they also helped us figure out how to change her name and sex change on her birth certificate. Never had a problem with them. Try to go to someplace in Connecticut never could get a hold of anybody and when I did get somebody they told me I had to call somebody else and she was never available so that’s why we found out about this place and they’ve been great ever since.

Negligent and disorganized. After weeks of waiting, meeting with providers, getting labs done, working with insurance, confirming everything was set, and booking an appointment, I took off time and drove an hour and a half to be told they dropped the ball because of a “miscommunication” and they can’t help me today. I am homeless and can barely afford food, much less the gas to get out here. I desperately need this care, but I can’t afford to risk coming again and wasting more time and money. This error is causing me a lapse in much needed medical care and probably more than a few meals. I regret trusting them with my care.

If you're looking for a mental health provider's office who will ignore your disability accomodations, not notify you via phone or writing when you've been randomly discharged, and then not be able to provide you with copies of the office's patient policies when requested multiple times, in writing, including from the CEO, then Transhealth may be the mental health provider for you! 🎉

Medical care side seems to have it together a bit better. My PCP and her team are lovely and very helpful. Would avoid the mental health department entirely if you're able.

First place I had a primary care doctor after leaving my pediatrician. Always heard horror stories about other people's doctor's experiences. I've never had anything of the sort at this practice. I'm always excited to have an appointment. I'm talked to like an adult that's capable of asking questions if I don't understand something. It's a healthy back and forth about my health with someone confident in their practice. It's been a fortunate, and kind of wild, experience so far.

I liked my first few experiences here, i mean i started hormones bc of this place and ill never be able to thank Transhealth enough for helping me with that, but when my insurance came along with problems where they wouldn’t pay it felt like everyone just kinda shrugged and didn’t help me when i was asking for help 🙁 My therapy here was much the same, I liked my therapist but my insurance wasn’t paying and no one told me at all so now i have a really large bill that i can’t pay and have no idea what im gonna do about. (i sent a message asking what to do but they just said they billed my insurance and they declined,, not very helpful.) I never would have continued therapy here if i had known that my insurance wasn’t ever paying for it. Also it’s probably my fault but i thought for all of the like 3 or 4 months of therapy i was going too that i was on a waitlist for psychiatric care but i just wasn’t which was really unpleasant. On the whole i just don’t understand insurance at all so some of my problems here were probably my own fault, but no one i talked too here was equipped to help me and never did, leading to a 8 month long period where i just didn’t have hormones anymore which was genuinely the worst time of my life! I really wish I could recommend Transhealth, and maybe i’m just a fluke, but if you have masshealth thru Health New England and are similarly not very smart when it comes to insurance I’d maybe think twice about going here 🙁

I've been using TransHealth's services for nearly two years now, and I can safely say they've never let me down. As someone with a lot of anxiety regarding doctor's visits, etc., I've started to actually look forward to meeting with my doctor and having conversations with him. Their office is inclusive and welcoming to all, and my transition has been going as smooth as ever since I've been here. My Primary Care Provider is genuine, kind, and can always put a smile on my face, and the other nurses and staff are always willing to help. I could not recommend this place more!
