Kitsap mental health has changed drastically over 5 to 6 years and the facility is amazing The people who work here are the most kindest generous people you will ever come across they always have a smile they're always trying to make you happy and up your spirit and honestly is the fastest way that I got my mental health help I needed every other place in Washington and Kitsap county didn't want to help me so this is ultimately the best option if you are on the state because again they are super friendly super understanding organized communicate they have changed a lot over 6 years 6 years ago they were not nearly as organized or friendly or anything like that but they have grown a lot and I love this facility in this place it's like home now and yeah I hope that helps.

Don't even get me started this place. I sure hope everyone has far better experiences then the way this place has provided "counseling" and ultimately crisis services to my friend. All his psychotic episodes have been allowed to worsen and land himself in jail, except once, in 10 years. Even Bremerton's Chief of Police wrote me in 2023 that it is they, the police, that are doing all the crisis response. And if you're lucky enough to get an evaluation from a DCR, be sure to google "DCR PROTOCOLS" and carefully read what these evaluations SHOULD encompass. The quality is severely lacking, and I've read numerous of them.

I found this facility horrifying and repugnant. If you are from out of state don’t even bother. Staff made it clear they are not interested in offering any help. Regardless of its necessity. Attempting to check in was convoluted at best, maliciously confusing at worst. The staff didn’t seem to understand their own check in process. We were sent from building to building without any regard for our wellbeing or their own process and professionalism. Russel in particular made it clear he was only interested in getting us out of the lobby as quickly as possible. He discussed sensitive information in the waiting room making us severely uncomfortable. He made no effort to confirm my referral to this facility. He continued to bulldoze over anything we said. I am appalled someone so callous works in this industry. It wasn’t easy to admit that I needed this level of help and being made to feel like I couldn’t be seen or helped at this facility was very frustrating and honestly hurtful to me. I don’t normally leave reviews but I can not in good faith leave this experience unmentioned. It is really sad and unfortunate to me that mental health professionals could be so careless to someone actively seeking help. I truly hope they don’t have to experience this level of carelessness if they ever require such help.

This facility is not safe for people with dietary allergies. Multiple times i was served food that I was allergic to and if I was really trying to kill myself I could have easily.

The staff refuses to let patients look at the ingredients in their food. Their gluten-free options are not actually gluten-free and they kept serving their gluten free options alongside gluten.

They do not take allergens seriously, and I would seriously not recommend going to this place or sending someone here if they have allergies or other health issues.

This place is not safe for people who can’t advocate for themselves about their allergens. Do not send your loved ones here if you actually want them to get better.

I stayed at the YIU a couple times when I was 13 and 15 years old. I am 20 years old and keep thinking about how much medication they put me on. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression and was prescribed 14 different medications including lithium. I was taking 20+ pills a day as a adolescent going through bipolar ( which I was diagnosed at 17 with). I was never able to keep up with those pills and stopped taking them many times which didn’t help anything. No CHILD should be taking more than a pill for mental illness. Honestly there’s so many more alternatives then just pills. DBT skills are a god send. The peer Councilors were pretty awesome at the time and I did feel safe.

I'd like to share my experience with Kitsap Mental Health, which has been an immense help in my life. Initially, I didn't realize they could assist with housing, but they went above and beyond. Their expertise in mental health and medication management has made a significant difference. My counselor proved that titles don't define their ability to help. Six months of level 1 drug prevention and relapse prevention treatment got me back on track with my medications, leading to substantial improvement. While I still face mental health challenges, Kitsap Mental Health's support and guidance are deeply appreciated. Thank you staff.

I took my 13-year-old to do an intake to get set up with the counselor. When I went into the room for the first part they were having her sign all these papers and barely explaining them to her. So I said wait a minute let me read those to you before you go signing anything because I want you to understand everything that you are signing and if it’s worth signing. The gentleman turn to my 13-year-old and said just to let you know Washington considers you an adult at age 13 that can make their own medical decisions.
Not only that but My daughter said that the gentleman asked her ā€œif you get diagnosed with bipolar or a mental illness do you want us to not tell your parents?ā€ Also when I called to talk to them today I asked them if they prescribe kids age 13 and up antipsychotic medicationā€˜s without the parents consent and they said yes we do and they also informed me that if she doesn’t want us to know they will not disclose it to us. Therefore your child could be on medication you would never know and you would never know if they are suffering from a mental illness because they will not tell you. That is something extremely important for a parent to know. If your child is having a bad reaction to medication and you have no clue if they’re on it or sometimes the psych medication can mess you up more. It was such a disappointment that there is no way I will take her there. To hand a child a bunch of documents they have no clue that they’re signing is extremely sneaky and wrong. And they are children a therapist can just say to them this medication make you feel so much better and of course a child’s going to say OK. I would absolutely not recommend this place one bit for a child. Parents are a child advocate as well in the staff is very important for a parent to know.

My experience with KMH, is : I was disrespected, disserved, and ignored . KMH really sucks . They're trying to not help you at all. F KMH, and all of its worthless employees. They're lucky I'm not their supervisor. Wish I could rate them lower than one star, but it did say hated it . After all that occured, they try to demand you do things , such as, go here , go there , when they aren't doing anything for you , at all. Makes me angry thinking about it . Oh funk you, KMH . What do you do?
