Horrible Experience at Urgent Care

I am writing this review while still waiting at the urgent care facility, and I am beyond frustrated with the treatment we have received.

We were seen by a wonderful doctor who examined my child and instructed us to go to the front desk to arrange an X-ray. However, when we approached the front desk, the woman there told us to write the patient's name on a slip of paper. As I took literally 10 seconds to do this, she left the reception area and disappeared behind a door.

My child, who is on crutches, has now been waiting for over 20 minutes at the window with no assistance. I can hear this woman laughing and chatting behind the wall, clearly not concerned about the patients she is supposed to be helping. When I asked her colleagues at the front desk to either call her back or assist us themselves, they just said, "It's fine, just wait."

Meanwhile, all the seats in the lobby are taken, and my child is struggling to stay balanced on crutches, trying not to fall. This is unacceptable for an urgent care facility that is supposed to provide timely care and support, especially to someone clearly in need.

The lack of professionalism and basic empathy is appalling. We came here expecting care, not to be ignored and dismissed. I would not recommend this place to anyone, and I sincerely hope management addresses this unacceptable behavior.

One star for being able to schedule an appointment short notice. Showed up and no one in the waiting room. Woman behind the desk was professional but not personable. After check in I was told to go sit in my car and they will call me to a side door. Umm, what? So I asked if I could just wait outside by the side door and they said that was fine. Again, why am I (an adult) asking if it's okay to stand outside.

Then I received a call from the nurse asking a bunch of questions that she could have asked me face to face (or mask to mask). She came to get me from the door and walked me to a room. There was another person present but I have no idea who he was. She took my vitals and acted put out. Told her my symptoms and then gave me a strep test and told me to wait a few minutes and the doctor would be in.

A few minutes later, the doctor told me that my strep test was negative And I didn't show signs of a sinus infection for my symptoms. He asked me a few questions. He looked at my throat. I also told him that I had a rash that was spreading and was concerned If that was related to my sore throat or if that was something different. He asked me what the rash looked like instead of actually looking at it. He brushed it off as If it was nothing. The room was so poorly lit tosee the rash anyways on my arm.

I left with three prescriptions Waiting for me and not really sure what the heck was going on. He basically said if it's still continues in the next few days come back. Really? Why would I come back to this place after I had the experience I did?

I came here because it's in network and it was really convenient. I'd rather go to CVS MinuteClinic pay out-of-pocket and get way better service along with a personable staff.

Do better John Muir. Do better.

I am aware they are poorly reviewed - I’m not sure why others rated them low, but I have to say I had a good experience (considering the circumstances). I was a walk in at around 7:00 PM on a Thursday; front desk receptionist checked me in, walked me through everything and then I was seen rather quickly (I want to say 20-30 minutes later?). They treated the wound, prescribed medicine and bandaged me up, all pretty quickly- in and out in about an hour and change. The insurance covered everything except the copay, so overall very good experience.

Unless you’re being seen by Dr. Ethan Hollander at the Walnut Creek location or Dr. Sinan Alshahwany at the San Ramon location, you will not be listened to. These two amazing doctors actually listened and helped me figure out what was wrong with my back which caused my leg to go limp to the point where I couldn’t walk anymore. They helped me get down to the source while the other four doctors I saw (one unfortunately including my primary care doctor which I will need to look into changing) were completely careless and misdiagnosed me with what ended up being a slipped disc, bulging disc, and a pinched nerve. The four awful doctors I don’t want to name had been blaming arthritis and sciatica for this pain that I ended up needing to go to the ER for surgery for. If they are not listening to you, please take care of yourself and go to the ER. I wasted so much time and money at Walnut Creek urgent care just for them to continue misdiagnosing me, giving me medication that didn’t work, and prolonging me from getting the surgery I needed for two months while I was still on my feet working making things worse due the four awful doctors lack of care and negligence.
Again, I would like to give a major shoutout to the two doctors (Dr. Ethan Hollander and Dr. Sinan Alshahwany) that actually helped, obviously payed attention in medical school, and rightfully earned their positions. They both get a star and the others get zero which is why I even put two stars in the rating. Absolutely awful experience from the four doctors unnamed. They let me suffer.

I have had excellent care at John Muir Urgent Care. Have been so grateful for their knowledge, compassion and medical attention.
As well as the professionalism of the health care team, the front line of receptionists have been extraordinarily, competent, kind and attentive.

Worse place ever. Came in with serious flu symptoms. Girl at the front desk was rude and not helpful at all. Hardly anyone in the waiting room and she said I would have to wait 4 hours for an appointment. I would not recommend this place.

We walked in and they told us they only schedule urgent care appointments but we're able to schedule us an appointment 30-45 minutes later. Which is what I'd expect to wait for care in America at a minimum so that was no problem.

They saw us at the time they said. Gave good advice and went smooth.

They are in the Cigna network in case that helps anyone, but be sure to check with your provider or call ahead to confirm.

Very rude receptionists. They share the building with Labcorp, which I had an appointment with. I was waiting on their side of the room next to the sign to check in. Instead of telling me to move from the checking area, they rudely asking me with high voice to move to the Labcorp side of the room. Very unnecessary and unprofessional. It was on Sunday, 02/23/25, at 8:30 am, so you should know who I am referring to.
