We are so thankful that we found this practice. Dr Straholm and all the staff are so kind and welcoming. My five year old loves going to the doctor, they let her watch and be helpful in some of the exams. This office is very thorough and I feel like they actually care about your problems. I feel cared for and seen here. We highly recommend this practice.

Best practice I’ve ever been a patient at. Reception is always so kind, and on point - as well as responsive if trying to reach the office. I’ve never had a voicemail go unreturned. My doctor truly listened to me, made me feel super comfortable, assessed my health issues alongside me in order to come up with a treatment plan TOGETHER. I’ve seen a number of doctors for mental and physical health over the years that simply order what they deem fit, whereas here I felt as though all of my options were put on the table for me, in order to come up with the most proactive solution. Will continue using this office for the foreseeable future.

I have been going to heritage now for a couple years. And have dealt with both the Dr. And P.A. Both are amazing and have great customer service. You will be in the room waiting for usually no more then 5 min and they're never in a hurry to get you in and out. They listen and actually try to find out and understand your issues.
The staff is always super friendly and building is gorgeous and well maintained.
Only thing that I would like to see someday in the future would be certain things done in house. Almost everything from xrays to labs is done out of house which can make getting things cared for frustrating.

I am a new patient at Heritage Family Medicine. My Husband and I were in crisis and trying to get a referral to a specialist. Heritage took me in the next day when no one else would get me in for weeks and didn’t care. The entire staff was wonderful. The doctor took my concerns very seriously. He didn’t just hand me a referral and send me on my way. He took immediate action himself. He got me in to have an MRI the next day and seen me the same day for results. I felt confident in and cared for from a doctor for the first time in a long time. Thank you Craig and the Heritage Family Staff for treating me like a person.

Our experience started out great as both of my boys had there yearly checkups and the PA that we saw was wonderful however my youngest son needed to provide a urine sample and couldn’t at the time of the appointment. So they sent us home with all of the necessary equipment but when I went back on a Friday to give them the sample they were closed. I don’t blame them for that. It is my responsibility to look up the hours before attempting to go in. I gave them a call today to let them know what had happened and asked if it would be easier to just come in and provide the sample or to get the supplies and return home to do it again. It went to voicemail immediately and I left a message. They called back about a hour and a half later. They let me know that dropping by would be fine and I let them know that I would be there within the hour. When walking into the practice about 15 minutes later there was a note on the counter asking us to take a seat and they would be with us shortly. We sat down and waited. As I was waiting I saw a women in the middle office(it is all glass). After about 5 minutes of waiting I see her get up , make eye contact with me and then proceed to walk in the back. She returned to her office again making eye contact with me. She sat back down at her desk and I didn’t see her again. Now about 15 minutes have gone by and I have not had anyone greet us. I could hear them in the back and the lady that saw me has also not come out of her office again. At this point I am getting irritated because my son is there for a urine sample and has to use the restroom. After about 5 more minutes go by I stand up to peak into her office and I see her sitting there with her cell phone on her hands. I am infuriated at this pint and just walk out. As I return to my truck I call the office and it goes straight to voicemail and I leave a message. This was at about 12:30pm today and it is now 7:30pm. I still have not yet heard back from them. Needless to say. We will not be returning due to terrible customer service which is sad because I really appreciated PA Brumagin.

I can’t say enough about this place, and that says a lot because I’m super picky. Craig is the best medical provider we’ve had since we moved to AK (10 years ago). We had a family practice doc that I loved in MT and I never thought we’d be able to replace him but Craig has absolutely met and 100% surpassed every expectation. We pulled all 3 of our kids from their pediatric practices too, because Craig genuinely cares for our whole family way beyond what you would expect from your healthcare provider. This practice is the epitome of what family health care should be. They remember you, your family members, important events, etc. I never feel like he’s rushing to get to the next person. In fact, sometimes I’m shocked at the amount of time spent in the room with us. And especially shocked that I never have to wait for him very long, considering he gives such good care. You and your entire family are in great hands with the staff at Heritage!

This office is incredible! The entire team, from front desk to the doctors, are friendly and so caring. When my family moved to Alaska we searched for a new doctor for our kids and we ended up finding a home at Heritage Family Practice.

Craig takes care of our family. He has been not only an amazing healthcare provider for our family, but has truly become a friend to our family.

I feel like we took a step back in history with this family practice. This office reminds me of what I had growing up where you’re entire family is taken care by the same medical staff and there is so much care and love involved.

Highly recommend Heritage Family if you’re looking for a new doctor in the Valley or even Eagle River. They are worth the drive into they Valley!!

We’ve been going to Heritage Family Medicine for almost 10 years now. I was a little panicked that my pediatrician was leaving state and I would have to find a new doctor. Dr. Salhstrom was one of the doctors my pediatrician was referring patients to. He’s seen all of my kids since they were babies and toddlers, he’s helped me with health issues that rose up, and he’s very easy to work with if you have no insurance (which is always a plus for me!) I do have insurance now, which is great but I did not for the first few years. I love how you can always get a hold of him and talk to him personally if needed. Additionally, I was a little nervous when PA Craig got hired on, new providers always make me nervous, but Craig is fantastic as well! Everyone from the reception staff to the med assistants are wonderful.
