I think it’s horrible that Arroyo Vista Clinics only give patients 15 minutes and your only allowed to talk about 3 issues with an appointment and if you walk in they will only allow you two issues to talk about. Since 2020 Arroyo Vista la standards have dropped significantly and so has their bedside manner. Since 2020 you can’t get them on the phone, I would leave messages and they would never call back. I would have to drive to the location and make my appointment. Now they’re trying to push everyone to do things a different way… what makes you think that a clinic that refuses to answer their phone or call back patients can actually do better with this so called new system in place. Please try and set your clinics give a crap about people instead of rushing them through a broken process. Just ridiculous!!!! I wish I could give NEGATIVE STARS.

This practice would save a lot of money by disconnecting their phone lines considering they never use them! Don't bother calling to make an appointment or ask questions, and if you walk in after failing for days to reach them by phone, don't expect the receptionist to help you either. If you want healthcare your best bet is to telepathically connect with the doctors directly. Hope this helps.

The people who work here are some of the most unprofessional and quite frankly unintelligent and ignorant people I've experienced when reaching out for healthcare and I think that lack of intelligence coupled with their clear disinterest in doing their job is why their attitudes were so poor. I'm not sure if they were hired as a favor by their relatives, but that's the only reason I can think of as to why they were so antagonistic about helping me and doing what they're paid I am certain is too much for.

I initially called them to set up a PCP appointment under my new insurance, a process that should have been extremely easy. The woman on the phone was snappish, impatient and incredibly condescending for a woman who had zero clue what she was doing and had difficulty even taking my name down, and I'm sure misspelling and incorrectly putting my MRN in despite me repeating it over and over for her. She claimed that she couldn't find my name in the system and that I would have to call my insurance to set up a PCP. Except, when I did just that and had us both in on the call(an extremely tedious process where they markedly ignored our calls multiple times, claimed we were first in the queue just to send us to voicemail after nearly an hour, etc) she spoke rudely to my insurance provider, claimed she still couldn't find me even though my insurance provider politely and repeatedly told her that she wouldn't because the PPO is out of state and that their clinic was in their network and covered by my insurance and that there was no need to me to do anything besides set up an appointment with the PCP of my choosing. Despite snapping that 'she got it', she then passed the buck over to the billing department, who of course bounced us right back to the clinic as I am a first time patient and wouldn't have any bills. They also pointedly sent us into another 20 minute queue and then voice-mail. My insurance provider even said to me in the midst of all this that this process is actually incredibly simple and that she had never experienced someone so unprofessional and ignorant in this role.

This was clearly true as after deciding that this was NOT the clinic for me, I called Mosaic Family Practice and they not only gave me a callback immediately but went out of their way to set me up with another PCP and clinic after informing me that they weren't accepting new patients. My experience with MFP and then the doctor they referred me to was not only pleasant and professional, but between my first call with Mosaic and the setting up of an appointment with their referral, that process took me only at most 12 minutes compared to nearly 2 hours bouncing around with A-Vista.

My suggestion would be that rather than hiring cousins or friends or whoever as favors, you get people that can, I don't know, read, write or at least have a single modicum of intelligence, and if that's too much to ask, hire someone who is at least professional, pleasant and raised with basic home training to front your patients' first point of contact. Most people find that being a little ditzy is okay if you're at least a sweetheart. Nobody wants to patronize an establishment where the first people you have to deal with are those whose heads would sound like a pack of tic tacs if you shook them AND are incredibly rude and nasty.

TLDR: it’s not horrible, doctors are good and it’s convenient, but not worth how awful navigating their practice is, especially if you are someone who gets stressed out by the medical system.

Pros: my actual doctor, Dr Herndon, is great. She’s knowledgeable, empathetic, and really listens. I had a major health crisis and she was helpful in getting me referred to specialists and whatnot. I’ve seen a few other providers during walk ins and they are hit and miss. They do bloodwork and ultrasound in house which is nice, and getting a walk in isn’t generally too difficult.

Cons: it is near impossible to get through to anyone on the phone. There is no portal, email, or other way to communicate with them. The only way to get an answer on the phone is to dial 0 after you call the main number and ask the operator to route you. Which still only works about half the time because the call continuously gets dropped when transferred. Front desk staff is normally nice, but I had an issue where my appointment was scheduled in person when I was told it was over the phone, and everyone was super rude about it and kept going out of their way to tell me I was wrong and I was the one who messed up. I get working in medical reception is frustrating, I did it for awhile, but I was really upset (while very kind) about missing my appointment and they were being pushy about it being my fault for no reason. She even said they would’ve been able to take me over the phone but it took me so long to actually get through to someone on the phone once I realized there was an issue, so it was too late for my appointment. Lastly, I was supposed to get a head and neck ultrasound, I waited and stressed for 2 weeks for those results (they don’t have an online portal and refuse to release results to you without an appointment), then was told they didn’t do the whole ultrasound (they admitted they messed up) and I would need to come back and pay for another ultrasound for the rest. I asked if the copay could get waived, they said they would call me back to let me know, never did. So I had to wait a week for a new ultrasound, 2 more weeks for those results, got to spend a ton of extra time anxious, and pay two copays due to their mistake. Not sure my insurance will cover the same ultrasound for the same indication twice in one month, so I’m sure I have a big fat medical bill in the mail to look forward to thanks to them. Go elsewhere…. It’s not worth it

I been coming to this clinic for the past 20 years, and honestly its it’s gotten worst!!! They don’t answer the phones when you need to make an appointment, you just have to go in person, the receptionist are all stuck in gossip and conversations with each other while the phone is ringing next to them and they just ignore it !! I don't change clinic due to the fact that there are actually good doctors there but the customer service and front desk are so unprofessional and lazy, if you tell them something they just give you an attitude its just all bad!!
