Applying to Gurnick Academy was not a good idea. The only part of the process that I can honestly say was positive was the campus tour. After that, everything became unnecessarily frustrating and discouraging.

I followed every required step carefully: submitting the application, taking the CCAT exam, paying the $100 application fee, sending my transcripts, and completing the FAFSA. I wanted to make sure I was doing everything right. However, the admissions process turned into a nightmare. The first MRI admission advisor I had been in contact with quit without my knowledge, leaving me confused and unsure of who to reach out to. Eventually, I spoke with the second MRI advisor, who did help me a little bit, but even after completing all the forms, I was never given the opportunity for an interview. Instead, weeks later, I received word that the higher-ups had already made their decisions and chose not to move forward with me.

The same exact thing happened with financial aid. I didn’t realize that my original financial aid advisor had also quit, and I was suddenly reassigned to a new one. The only thing I ended up doing with the financial aid office was filling out FAFSA paperwork, which I had already done on my own. It felt disorganized, unprofessional, and left me with little to no guidance throughout the entire process.

In the end, I walked away extremely disappointed. It felt like I had wasted my time, effort, and money, only to be let down by poor communication and a lack of consistency. Unless you are absolutely, genuinely passionate about one of their programs and willing to deal with this level of disorganization, I would not recommend applying to Gurnick Academy.

They are persistent with follow up during the application process & as soon as they get your money they go ghost.

seems like such an unprofessional school. they followed up well and stayed in touch when it came to my application, but once they took my $100 to apply they all went silent lol it’s been a couple months now and i can’t get a hold of anyone. their tuition is insane, and after doing more research the students that have attended have nothing but negative things to say. probably a blessing in disguise that i never heard back.

This school only cares about the money you pay them. I remember the director contacting me so many times in a week to pay my past due. I was still waiting for my VA benefits to kick in. Then I was told if I don’t pay by this date, I will be removed from the program. So I applied for a loan to pay off my past due. After that I was never harassed again. I expected a lot from this school. From great didactic instructors to clinical instructors. But that did not happened. I only had one good didactic instructor. My clinical instructor was lazy and always complaining. The leadership did not care about you. Just their well being as a school. Your grades don’t matter. Also they did not care if you are a military veteran. There were times that I had to clock in using my phone which is not allowed, but my clinical instructor was always late so I couldn’t clock in using a computer. I was removed from the MRI program because I was DISHONEST. Instead of helping you to improve, they just remove you from the program because they got what they needed from you. MONEY! No kind of remediation whatsoever. Just after your MONEY. You’re better off with Unitek where they care about their students emotionally, spiritually, and personally. Being a nurse is way better than being an MRI tech.👎

I attended the San Mateo Campus and was appalled. Shortly after paying for my tuition their true colors came out. Faculty showed blatant disrespect for the students and my education. Ms. Shashi often over talked and undermined her own staff leading to 2 teachers immediate departure in the middle of the semester. Both were great teachers. She is very disrespectful, condescending, and patronizing to staff and students. I often had to remind her that I was grown with children of my own.

If that wasn't bad enough the staff made many mistakes and attempted to blame the students for not trying harder or overcoming the adversity they inspired without the slightest hint of an apology. Mr. Verdad Even went as far as to call a student a liar in front of the whole class because faculty gave her and 2 other girls 2 different instructions. We were even told we had to do an extra day in class because our teacher didnt show up to unlock the school OR TEACH. We waited outside for an hour and a half before going home from a class that was supposed to start at 630AM!!!

Needless to say this doesn't make for the most conducive learning environment or even support a positive one. The only way I would go back to this school is if they paid me to attend AND got new staff.

I’m starting here soon and the staff were really helpful and reached out to me with information. Katherine went beyond and above to help me get admitted before the start date of my program. So far I had a great experience with everyone there and I’m super excited to start here soon and learn a lot from all the teachers.

I have had the pleasure of working with Gurnick and their students for over 4 years and can say it has been a wonderful experience. The MRI students sent to my facility for clinical training are professional, hard-working and team players. All my Technologists are Gurnick grads! A big thank you to Elena Danilova for building such a great relationship with me and my facility.
