Dr. Allen is by far the most knowledgeable, kind and attentive primary dr I've found since moving to az 18 years ago. I've been seen by 8 others. I do have specialists for other medical problems. So glad I found dr Allen for concerns and wellness checks.
That's Christiaan Allen at Deseret Family

I have Medicare and a supplement which rarely cover any of his services. I just tried to call to get answers but the office is not open. I am charged twice what my previous Dr. charged and only left there because of the distance. The Dr. is arrogant and been of no help for any of my issues as of today. I'm supposed to be on some special program that gets me special service because of my chronic conditions which has been a total joke. They call once a month to see if there is anything they can do for me but when I call for an appointment it's weeks out. They did offer a PA to see me for allergies a few days out, but was as much as threatened me over the mask issues. What a joke. Totally disatisfied. I hate having to write this review

My Husband has been with Dr. Allen for many, many years and we couldn't ask for a better Doctor. He is energetic, knowledgeable, and best of all his friendliness and "bedside manner" puts one at ease and exudes confidence. My Husband, Sam has been a type 1 diabetic for 50 years and on one occasion the Dr. waited late to see him for his foot ulcer and made sure Sam got in to see a specialist that same evening. He was the one that found Sam's prostate cancer and we got to the Cancer Center right away thanks to this Dr.

I , also see his PA, Roxanne and she is great. She never forgets to follow thru and get back in touch with you. I have never had any problems with the Staff and they do their best to try and get you in to see a Dr. when you really need them.
Thanks to All at Desert Family !!!!!

So many complaints about Dr. Christriaan (Chris) Allen, I barely know where to begin. The biggest, probably, is that I spent five months undergoing twice-monthly blood tests and was referred to an oncologist where I had three appointments in total. Why? I don't know. Dr. Allen never told me why I was getting these tests or what they were testing me for. And by this point, he'd been such a bad doctor, I was basically testing him to see if he'd EVER tell me what was going on. Based on one clue (he said my neutrophils count was high), and then the specialty of the oncologist, I deduced I was being tested for leukemia. For five months. Based totally on internet research. In the end, they never determined why my blood tests were abnormal, just that I didn't have leukemia. And the oncologist sent paperwork to my doctor (Allen) that I needed quarterly blood work for a year to discover what the heck was going on. Never happened. I have honestly never heard from him again, and that was in November 2017 (I remember, because my husband's Thanksgiving prayer that year included gratitude that I didn't have leukemia).
For two years, I've complained of pain in my knee. Not one follow-up question. I have psoriasis – very bad psoriasis – and couldn't get help for that. He doesn't listen to patients. He has no interest in helping patients. The ONLY thing he ever did for me was actually for him. I told him I wanted a complete workup as part of an effort to lose weight. He happily gave me a referral to his other clinic for some test to see how well my body uses oxygen. At a cost of $850 to my insurance company (and $150 to me). And never followed up with me on that to talk about an exercise or diet plan to support my attempts to achieve a healthier weight.
I'd like to say that the staff at this clinic are very kind, friendly, and helpful. And my husband had a good experience with Dr. Allen's PA, Kevin (I didn't find him any more helpful than Dr. Allen, but I've often found men have better experiences with doctors than women do – take what you want from that).

Dr. Allen is a good Doctor without a doubt, It is the lack of communication with the staff that is very unprofessional. On several occasions I had to call the office after the Pharmacy told me they did not get any reply's to their several fax requests to refill a prescription for my wife.

This Thursday morning around 11am 6/23/16 I called to find out why they were not responding to the pharmacy's two attempts via fax and to request myself them to call in the refill to the pharmacy so I can get the medicine my wife needs because of the upcoming weekend and the office being closed. After speaking with the front desk staff I was told I would get a call back if there were any problems. I did not receive a call so I assumed it was "OK" and I could go get my wife's prescription . I call the pharmacy in the late afternoon and found out once again the Office staff never called the pharmacy to have the refill done. Now this will effect my wife for the Friday,Saturday and Sunday . This staff is not being responsible with Dr. Allen's patients. No more excuses , looks like it's time to move on to a caring and responsible staff who actually cares to follow up on their job.

I have been going to Dr Allen for 9 yrs. I don't know what has happened to the office, but for the last 3 years, there has been issues. A couple of years ago I was given a vitamin D blood test and it was coded wrong and they would not change it. It cost me $300. Now unless you are seen by the Dr several times a year they will not refill your prescriptions. I am gone.

Dr. Allen is my parents doctor in Arizona. I took my parents for an office visit and met him and some of his staff. I am very impressed with his care of my parents. I have contacted his office on a few occasions for different requests and the staff has been very helpful.

The telephone system and the web site are marginal, at best. After trying to navigate both the telephone system and web site, in particular the patient portal, my frustration level (and blood pressure?l?) are sky high! The quality of care seems to be the least of my concerns at this point!
Gold Canyon needs its own phone number/service instead of routing through Scottsdale. It's a bottle neck. And hire a competent web designer!!!
