Rented a car for the day our cruise ship was docked in Skagway. The service was really friendly and helpful. Our car - a Rav4 - was far from new but it was fine for our needs and allowed us to do our own road trip along the Klondike Highway into Yukon Highway. We stopped at various viewpoints along the way and had a very close encounter with 2 bears. Our $100 deposit was returned within 24 hours of handing the car back. A very successful and enjoyable day thanks to this wonderful local outfit.

Instead on an excursion we rented a car from Nils at Affordable Car Rental. Though cruise excursions are great for guided tours, we wanted to control our sites and destinations. We did just that and drove to White Horse. The views were breathtaking and our trip for the 4 of us was much cheaper than an excursion when we had 12 hours in Skagway. Definitely recommend Affordable Car Rental no matter your destination. The communication was great, the prices affordable and the deposit was refunded the same day.

Great company! Nils emailed me and texted twice to keep me posted. Great communication. We got a Nissan Altima in excellent condition. The car was right where he said it would be. You even have the option of having a cooler with lunch in it if you like for an additional few bucks(we didn't). We loved having our own agenda instead of the crowded buses and train. This is a great alternative from what the cruise ship offers and would highly recommend. Oh, and Nils emailed me later in the day to say our $100 deposit had already been refunded. Excellent service!!!

Great experience that was super painless and easy to set up and very smooth once we got there. The car was great and Nils and Skipper are super friendly and nice. There was plenty of communication about exactly what to expect. So much better than paying out the nose for a cruise excursion because we got to set the pace of our own trip and go where we wanted which was up and into the Yukon for Emerald Lake, Carcross, and other sites which were all gorgeous. The drive itself is worth the price of admission, so beautiful! The car was very well maintained and clean, had no issues with it at all. They also have very cheap laundry and snacks if you want to take advantage of that!

We had a great experience with Affordable Car Rental from the moment we completed the booking Nils was great responding any questions we had about our rental including areas he would suggest for our drive for the day. Their site was very easy to find and access from where the ship was docked. While we were docked at the pier closest to their shop the other birth didn’t seem too far away but was a bit further. The car was very clean and well maintained and the shop had a nice selection of snacks and coffee.

We had an all-day stop in Skagway on our cruise. Rather than booking an excursion, I decided to rent a car. Affordable Car Rental was so easy and customer-friendly--and so much cheaper than Avis. They were friendly and easygoing. The car was ready, with a map, and helpful suggestions for sightseeing. If I ever go back, I will use them again. Great people to do business with.

When we came to pick up our car, they gave us a very old car, with over 150,000 miles and a cracked windshield and the air conditioner barely even worked! We didn’t complain because we only drive less than 7 hours to explore the skyway from cruise ship. They required us to refill the tank fully and yes, we did fill it up at a nearby. They never told us to refill the gas at their own gas station. We rented a lot of different car from different companies and no company asked us have to refill gas as their station, so we think as long as we refill the full gas, it will be ok. However ,when we returned the car, an old man, pretty sure he runs the place, yelled at us and insulted us, You refill the cheap gas. You are cheap!” “You brought cheap gas into my car!” and many others, first of all he never told us anything about buying his gas and second, the gas we brought was the same price! I have never experience such behavior and attitude when picking and giving back a car. I suggest to never ever go to this car rental “ family business “ again, they will try to get money off of you.

Decided not to do the train ride or bus tour, so we rented a car from Nils at Affordable Car Rental. Great communication and a Very good experience! It's about a 10 min walk from the pier, car was waiting and ready to go. I would definitely rent from them again. (just know you are not getting a brand new shiny car).
