I had a pleasant and fast experience at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Urgent Care in Grafton — the staff were kind, and the care itself was efficient. However, the billing practices are incredibly misleading and need to be made far more transparent.

Be aware that this location (and possibly other Ascension urgent care centers) uses contracted providers from Emergency Medicine Specialists. This means you will receive a separate bill from those providers, in addition to the facility charges — none of which was clearly communicated at check-in.

The facility charge for simply walking into the building starts at $1,200-- this does not include care, tests, or truly any services whatsoever. This level of facility charge is something you would see for an actual emergency room, which this is absolutely not nor is it publicized as such. Other local urgent cares see rates closer to $300 for a facility fee.

I’ve already submitted this feedback through the official Ascension survey link (which they seem to post under every review) and have received no follow-up. So, to whomever monitors these Google reviews — no need to copy and paste that same link again. I’ve taken that step, and unfortunately, it hasn’t resulted in any further communication.

Ascension needs to do better at providing upfront, user-friendly explanations of their billing practices — especially when third-party providers are involved. Patients deserve clarity, not surprise charges.

I booked two appointments online and got there to be told the online system means nothing and that we would be waiting however long it took. Thankfully there wasn’t that long of a wait. While the staff was fine, the bill was astronomical for the quick visit and care we received. I would avoid this urgent care in the future now that I know the pricing is so outrageous.

Avoid at all costs! Took my son in for what I thought was just strep. Was seen for maybe 10 min with a strep test. Received 3 bills in the mail totaling over $1,000.

Son had a bloody nose for 30 plus minutes. Headed over to urgent care. It stopped while they were taking him back. They gave us the option to be seen or not since it no longer was actively bleeding. I opted to leave. They gave us a nose clip and recommended treatment if it happened again. No charge for the visit or medical advice. Much more convenient than CHW.

Avoid this urgent care! The service was in general good, however, when they prescribed me a medication they did not check what pharmacy and automatically sent it to my by mail pharmacy. Rather than change it in the system after bringing this to their attention they just printed a paper script after I told them that is not what I wanted. This resulted in my by mail pharmacy sending out the prescription and charging me even though I already filled it at my local pharmacy. In addition, the billing was absurd, which is a similar comment I saw in other reviews. Ascension charged $250 (after $217 in insurance discounts) for the facility visit. Since it is affiliated with a hospital they have the ability to charge for emergency room services even though it was a simple urgent care visit. Also, the third party vendor that runs the urgent care out of the Ascension facility (Emergency Medicine Specialists) charged for a 45 minute visit when I was seen by medical professionals for a total of 10 minutes. The remaining 35 minutes I spent waiting to talk to someone while I heard the staff chat about their days / weekend plans. There are far better urgent cares with more straight forward and less crooked billing practices in the area.

"Why haven't you seen a regular doctor" "I am not mad at you but there is nothing I can do for you" said the person who never introduced herself to me. True, I had an appointment the following Tuesday for a massive rash but the pain was so great, I hoped for some immediate relief. Luckily, the only relief and compassion I got was the referral to the ER. I will bypass this Urgent Care for the more compassionate people at St Mary's ER.

I’ve been here twice recently and both times were excellent. Very nice facility, fast and easy check in, friendly people, skilled techs, nurses, PAs, and doctors.

While the doctor and receptionist staff were kind. The nurse that saw me first made it seem like I was a burden to her. I think I even apologized for coming in to be seen. When she asked why I was there I told her and she responded you saw your provider 2 days ago why didn't you tell them about it than. I said I was seeing my doctor for a different reason (foot) and just started having my symptoms (high blood pressure and dizziness) of why I came in today. She than tried to brush me off with anxiety. If you do not want to help your patients close this place down. You offer a service to us yet act mad when we come to seek help. Also if you don't like the profession you choose than find another job don't take it out on sick patients. I won't be back and don't think anyone else should go here. Heed the reviews.
