The care I received at Banner Gateway was simply amazing. From the nurses, doctors, anesthesiologist, pct’s, to the porter that helped me to my vehicle. I felt sincerely cared for, and was in great hands. Nurse Hannah, aides Hailey and Jane I thank especially. This is a great hospital and such kind and caring staff. Thank you!

While I was in the Emergency Room, the staff was patient and very kind. They knew their jobs, and supported each other to take care of my needs.
Later, when I was taken to my room, the transport team was professional and of good humor. I arrived at my room, to find my nurse standing at the door, greeting me as a valued guest.
All of my care was handled by staff who were professional, friendly, and seemed to enjoy their jobs.
An added benefit is they kept me alive and made me feel better

The care I received, went above and beyond my immediate expectations. I did arrive after 8:30 PM and was seen almost immediately with professional staff there to hear and listen to all my needs and concerns. In addition a provider that explained to me in detail exactly the kind of care I would receive from beginning to the end of my visit, along with the expectations of his staff and procedures. And into his word, everything came to fruition with the confidence that I would get better shortly there after. One of the better medical facilities I’ve been; under emergency care in this circumstances. Thank you again Banner, gateway staff.

Everybody was absolutely great. I was in observation for 2 days and Kristin, Ally, Leslie, April and Cecilia were absolutely fantastic. I couldn’t have asked for anything more from them. They made me feel like I was at the Ritz. I truly feel blessed that they were there and able to help me in my time of need. Thank You Ladies!!!

WOW, A true blessing of staff behavior and professionalism. I was put here for 40 days after cancer diagnosis and a broken neck.
3rd floor nurses and staff and the Doctor's treatment was like staying at the Hilton Hotel. Throughout my life I have stayed in many hospitals, however I have never been treated with so much respect.
Accountability, you all on the very top shelf.
(Thank-you)

We took our 13 year old daughter in for symptoms similar to a stroke. There was zero sense of urgency when we arrived from the registration. It took us over an hour before we were brought back to a room. Since they were short staffed, zero tests were run for the first 3 hours. Nothing was communicated with us, and it was like pulling teeth to get even a warm blanket or nausea medication after she had been throwing up for an hour. The nurses did not know how to draw blood and had to redo it with another nurse. After being there for 8 hours we received a diagnosis but the provider did not discuss any follow up care or truly explain the diagnosis. We will not be returning to this unit.

DO NOT SEE DR. SNEHANKITA CALARESE! I'm sure she is an excellent surgeon, but she refuses to take responsibility for anything that could put her in an unfavorable light.
I saw Dr. Calarese in the surgery department at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona. Background:
I'd had breast reconstructive surgery in my hometown, Tucson last Spring, performed by the marvelous plastic surgeon, Dr. Raman Mahabir. This was after cancer treatment and a bilateral mastectomy. I actually paid out of pocket for it as he doesn't take Medicare, and he is considered among the best. Unfortunately I developed a severe capsular contracture after the surgery. He recommended a Diep Flap procedure for me to fix it. This requires a hospital stay, and I needed to find a surgeon who takes Medicare. At that point in time no one in Tucson who does this took my insurance. I then located Dr. Calarese in Gilbert.
I originally met with her at the end of July. I enjoyed her very much and then set up several tests in preparation for the November 12 surgery date her team gave me. She had me take a special abdominal CT SCAN on August 15 to show her more info for the type of blood vessel work needed. I went to Gilbert for more tests on August 23, then an echo cardiogram in Tucson in October a couple of weeks ago, all set up by her team as surgery prep. I then went back to Gilbert on October 23 for more tests on October 24. The last appointment was with Dr. Calarese.
She told me the surgery procedure had to be canceled because the CT SCAN showed that my blood vessels are in the wrong place for the procedure. She said that she would do a different type of surgery and I agreed to it.
OK, understandable... I didn't react until after I'd paid my hotel bill and was driving back to Tucson. Why did she wait almost 3 and a half months to look at my results? I called her from my car, now pretty upset. She said she never looks at results until a few days before the last appointment before surgery. She said this was the way it was and didn't offer anything close to commiserating regarding the time and expense I had put into preparing for what would have been the surgery in less than 3 weeks.
There's more I can say, but I'll end with this. On Friday, her assistant finally called me in response to two messages I'd left, saying that since I was no longer an active cancer patient, I could no longer be considered priority. Thank goodness for being now cancer free! She went on to say that it now had to be moved to 2025. I pointed out that Dr. Calarese told me it would most likely be before the end of the year. This person became very snippity, saying she had been there but that Wednesday her clinic had filled up with new active cases. Best of luck to all these people. My appointment with the doctor had been on Wednesday afternoon near the end of the day, and I told her so. That conversation did not go well, unfortunately.
Last straw:
Dr Calarese just called to say she was "disappointed in my attitude". I told her that we should call it a day, and there was a click from her end, ending the call.
Sorry, but I feel that I DO have a beef, and that I shouldn't be shamed by her for being upset about her own attitude toward me.
Now moving on.
