Stay far away from place . They don’t call in refills when supposed to they set you up on 14 day med fill yet don’t set up an appt within those 14 days then expect you to go with out meds until the appt. And no way to get past a secretary’s horrible office!

Call to get prescriptions refilled ahead of time, no one calls back. Leave another voicemail, get rudely told to stop calling them and assume they did it and call the pharmacy, only to call the pharmacy and they didn’t do it… every month I go through this to get my medication leaving me without my medication because they have poor communication and treat their patients even worse. Thank you for leaving me without my medication again that I need daily.

Where do I start? Is it when my therapist was let go by Baystate and instead of having a new therapist assigned just getting put back on the several month to years long wait list? Or was it when I had withdrawals from my psych meds because they, after CVS had filled them, revoked my prescription even though it had refills and I had seen my psychiatrist as scheduled every time? Be it basic mental health services or medication refills this place makes it very evident that it's money first health second. When Baystate let my therapist go mid-Covid they then terminated me as a patient, because my therapist was no longer there, and instead put me back on the VERY long waiting list that I've already done once before. I can't fault either the therapist or psychiatrist, as they've been (or were) fine, but you're dealing with people's health here and act like it's not a huge deal. When I put in my refills, mind you SEVERAL DAYS prior to being out, I shouldn't have to go through SEVERAL DAYS without my medicine (which causes such severe withdrawal symptoms that I have had to stay home from work due to this before) because they sent a refill and then, mind you after CVS filled it and had it ready, revoked it and now made me wait longer. It's ineptness to a degree that is harming your "customers", who mind you here are people already struggling with mental health related issues, so to make it even harder is honestly abhorrent and disgusting. Between outright terminating my ability to continue therapy because YOU as a facility let my therapist go to EVERY SINGLE TIME I HAVE TO REFILL A PRESCRIPTION THAT MIND YOU I ALREADY HAVE REFILLS ON AND IS NOT A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE it's been a nightmare. You're dealing with mental health here, people already struggling to get by day to day so to make it that much harder really deserves a round of applause to the scum that is Baystate. One of the first things when you call that you hear the automated message say is 'If you're having a mental health crisis...' with steps on what to do but, let's be honest, you don't care if people are having a mental health crisis. Maybe if you hadn't been so inept they wouldn't be in a place of crisis when they just wanted to treat their mental health and not go through severe withdrawals and months of waiting again for a service they already had that you then took away. I mean I'm clearly not alone here in my personal experience.

My actual psychiatrist is kind and attentive, but please don't go here, because administration is infuriating. I've had to go without meds because the desk staff don't answer calls and you just have to play constant phone tag with them. plus, they've changed my appointments without warning multiple times.

The worst office I have ever dealt with. It is so unbelievably hard to talk to a person on the phone here - their nurses line doesn’t actually ring. The front desk staff is confrontational and unhelpful. I understand that there is a shortage of mental health personnel, but that by no means justifies taking multiple days to reach out to your ill patients. I have had to go without medication on multiple occasions (most recently a long holiday weekend) because they refused to fill it on short notice. I have also had to pay out of pocket due to an error in their script writing and STILL waiting to hear back. Close this place down.

I love the woman I see, she's amazing and always running in time. I truly feel like she cares. However, their response times to phone calls and refill requests leaves much to be desired. My pharmacy put in a request a week ago, I called yesterday and still no response. It isn't the fault of the nurses or receptionists (all lovely people!) Baystate needs to get them more help, this has been an issue for years.

It's a great place overall. Sure if your late they'll reschedule. If it happens 3times they won't see you anymore and are not accepting any more patients. I've had a hiccup here and there within the past 10years plus I've been going2 them but at the end of the day my needs are met, meds are taken care of & I see my Dr every 3months. Thank you Grunwald center

I have had previous experience with Griswold, and it honestly doesn't surprise me to read all of the negative reviews. Mostly my issues have been with the office staff. I agree with those who commented on how hard it can be to get through to someone over the phone. Definitely inconvenient, especially to those struggling with mental health issues, or trying to schedule for children who have them. You generally must leave them a voicemail, and they will return your call within a week or less, but of course, those in charge of intake could perhaps be a bit more professional, and use much better interpersonal skills. I have been treated rudely before both over the phone, and in person by office staff, on several occasions. Seeing as this is a facility that handles many with mental health concerns, you'd think they'd have a much more friendly, sensitive, compassionate & patient approach, but unfortunately that's not the case here. In fairness, I have not visited Griswold in a few years now. I will say that Sue Williams (psychiatrist) is terrific. I also liked Dr. Mohammed. But I can't emphasize enough how important I feel it is to make necessary changes with office staff, so that clients are treated with care, respect & dignity. I do understand that there is currently a shortage of psychiatric providers available, but this shouldn't effect the level of quality care, or mean that clients needs do not matter, or aren't taken seriously. I wish it was like it was several years ago, the staff was much friendlier & more welcoming. Another provider who I really credit is Joyce Milton. I'm not sure whether she still is employed by Griswold. Dr. Kareem was also good, but I believe he works elsewhere now. They do have a very strict policy about arriving late for appointments. If you are 10 mins late, sometimes less, they will make you reschedule. I think this is a bit unfair, seeing as situations often arise out of client's control, such as traffic, weather, or having to depend on others for transportation to appointments, who may be running behind themselves. I think it should at least be 15 mins to reschedule, as 10 is a little extreme. I used to have to travel from a few towns away & had sometimes run into issues with being late in the past that were out of my hands, only to have to reschedule for months down the road. I don't feel it's fair to make clients in need wait months, over being a few minutes late. I also feel that they rely heavily on medication as the sole answer to most mental health concerns, rather than offer or suggest alternative methods of treatment, such as yoga, exercise, meditation or acupuncture. Not everyone wants to be on meds, or feels comfortable with taking them. Especially when many have unpleasant side effects or adverse reactions. I think they definitely have room for improvement here. I will say that Parker North (affiliated with Griswold for inpatient needs) could also do better, but can be beneficial to those who have mental health crisises.
