This recommendation is long overdue. I have used BCH Urgent care as an alternative to using the Emergency Room at BCH or even making an appointment with my regular physician. I have never been disappointed in the helpful and welcoming nature of those in charge of registration, the well kept and cleanliness of the facility, and most impressively the professionalism of the medical staff. I spent 45 years in the Washington DC area where I encountered exceptional medical services because of the highly skilled doctors and nurses in the many excellent hospitals through the area. But I must be very honest … the care and attention I have received here in the Berkshires, primarily at BCH Urgent has equaled or even exceeded the emergency treatment I encountered in DC. Recently, due to a very small splinter, I had a nasty thumb infection. Dr Andrew Plager, not only, confirmed the self made diagnosis, and even though, I insisted that I had completely removed the splinter, he insisted that I have an X-ray to make sure I got it all. To my surprise, a piece of splinter was lodged deeper. Dr. Plager prepared me for this minor surgery on my thumb and successfully with absolute precision removed the larger piece of splinter. I never would have expected that I would have received the expert attention and treatment, that is rare, even at some of the well known facilities in Washington. His insistence on getting an xray and his precise incision has placed him on that exceptional list of the best doctors I have dealt with over the years.
Needless to say, we are very fortunate to have this excellent medical alternative here in the Berkshires. And to have an exceptional physician like Dr Andrew Plager on staff only makes BCH Urgent Care one of the best emergency care units available to us in our area.
