After a terrible birth experience with Cape Cod Hospital OB/GYN, I transferred here. It was like night and day. A live human being answers every time you call, and the nurses and midwives call back quickly if you have questions for them. The office staff are friendly and respectful. The medical staff are knowledgeable and prompt while taking the time to understand your concerns and explain their answers in layman's terms. Dr. Susan James delivered my second baby, and athough it was via c-section, it was a beautiful birth. I cannot recommend more highly! These ladies are the best.

I tried to get a scan done before a specialist appointment in Boston. The specialist recommended I get it done with my OBGYN locally so we would have the information going into the appointment and then I also wouldn’t have to travel two hours one way. I contacted BID OBGYN and since my NP had passed away they set me up with a new doctor. The morning of my appointment, staff rudely informed me that my appointment was canceled because, and I kid you not, “we don’t deal with endometriosis here, so we can’t help you.” All I needed was a scan, and I had to be evaluated to schedule it first. So not only was I denied access to health care, but there was no time to get a new doctor at a new facility and then get an appointment and THEN get the scan I needed. For the record, you absolutely do deal with endometriosis here. IT IS YOUR LITERAL JOB TO DEAL WITH OBSETRIC DISEASES. Thanks to what I now know to be a scheduling error, I did not get the scan done in time and now I am trying to communicate with a busy specialist who I cannot get into see again for MONTHS. Turns out there was something on the scan and the frustration over the back and forth on what this means is the whole reason I preemptively was told to have the scan done with my “trusted, local OBGYN.” The receptionist put in my reasoning for the appointment was to be evaluated for endometriosis which was completely wrong. I was diagnosed years ago which is clearly shown in my records. I made it very clear that my OBGYN was not medically equipped to handle the severity of needs, which is why I was going to a specialist!! To say that BID OBGYN just doesn’t deal with these kinds of issues is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. The Doctor who was conveying this message said she would only see me for my yearly exam and nothing more. Where do I go then for treatment? This specialist only does surgery, where is the in between care from emergency to check ups? This disease is literally eating me alive and that woman had the audacity to tell me ThAt’S nOt My PrObLeM…? This kind of communication error and denied medical treatment is why America’s maternal death rate is so high. DO BETTER!

I was new to the area and practice when I learned I was carrying twins. Even with 2 older children, it was a scary pregnancy since all multiples are considered high risk. I could not be happier with the care I received from Dr James and the entire team at Beth Israel. Every phone call, office visit, and experience was positive and exceeded my expectations. I delivered 2 healthy girls at 38 weeks and am so grateful for the care I received and continue to receive.
