Where do I begin? I suppose gratitude and love are the words to best describe how I feel about Dr. Franquelin, Maggie, Caitlyn and the entire staff at Calistoga Pet Clinic. My almost 14 year old black lab, Mr. Buster Brown, had to have an emergency splenectomy last Friday evening. Buster has been going to Calistoga Pet Clinic since he was 8 weeks old and Dr. Franquelin always refers to him as "our boy". Buster is a very stoic (extremely tough) boy, however even though he ate his dinner on Friday evening, I could tell something was wrong with him. He was obviously in pain and had to be coerced to eat dinner. I called Calistoga Pet Clinic at 5 pm and described his condition. They close at 5:30 pm for the weekend, and I live in Napa. They told me to bring him in immediately and Dr. Franquelin would wait for us. Buster had a fever, and Dr. Franquelin did a physical exam and ultrasound. Within 15 minutes of our arrival, he had diagnosed Buster with a mass on his spleen. He compassionately explained that Buster would have to have emergency surgery or he would not make it through the night. He went over all possible risks. I trust Dr. Franquelin implicitly and asked him for his advice. We decided on the surgery and Dr. Franquelin, Maggie, and Caitlyn stayed late on a Friday night to do the surgery. Buster made it through the surgery with very little complications and came home with me that night. Dr. Franquelin reached out to me via text multiple times in to the wee morning and then all weekend checking on Buster. It is Tuesday morning, 3 days after his major surgery, and he is 100% back to his old self. He recovered amazingly well. Buster would not be here right now if weren't for the amazing, compassionate, and extremely timely reactions and actions from the staff at Calistoga Pet Clinic. I am endlessly grateful! I could not recommend Calistoga Pet Clinic more.

We love Calistoga Pet Clinic! Dr Franquelin is a kind and patient communicator, always validates our concerns and shares information both verbally and through email. We admittedly reach out to the vet office a few times a year to ask questions about symptoms, behaviors, etc. as our dogs are a recent edition to our house and their staff always take the time to understand the concerns, talk with the doctor and call us back. This vets office is a part of the community and one that we are very thankful to have.

After noticing he was itching his ear more than usual on friday, on Monday I had a dog with a full blown ear infection. I was thrilled when there was a same day appointment available at Calistoga Pet Clinic- Maggie and Jackie did a great job of adding my dog to their system and getting me scheduled! The Vet techs were patient with my in-pain dog, but got the job of applying medication to his ear done! (kudos!) The Dr was kind and spent time going over some other questions I had. Would highly recommend the facility and staff!!

I moved to Calistoga in January of this year and needed a veterinarian for my two dogs. One is a small fifteen year old rescue Chihuahua who is almost fifteen with congestive heart failure, arthritis, seizures, and teeth issues. The care she was receiving previously in another state was less than adequate. I thought I was going to lose her several times and I was praying we would find a better vet who could help stabilize her. Calistoga Pet Clinic was the answer to my prayers. Typically my experience with veterinarians is that you either get a good vet, or good office and support staff like techs, receptionists, etc. In all the years I’ve had my dog, I’ve never found a practice with both until now. Dr. Franquelin immediately diagnosed both my dogs with new conditions other vets had never found, with a plan to address them. My dog’s condition has improved tremendously since my dog has been in his care, to the point that I’m shocked this is the same dog from a year ago. She acts like she’s three again. Dr. Franquelin is a fantastic vet, and he is never condescending when he explains conditions and treatments to those of us without a medical background, which I appreciate. Every single one of the staff I’ve interacted with has been amazing. Special shout out to Kayla who has gone above and beyond to help with all my pet’s Trupanion insurance, which is especially important to me because care for an elderly, sick dog is incredibly expensive. They are truly just the most amazing practice across the board and you will not be disappointed with their care. I am eternally grateful to have found them.

Dr. Franquelin and staff are amazing pet loving people who are professional and friendly. Recently our wonderful 18 year old cat, Boo, left this world. The entire staff was so helpful and caring. We will never forget them for their tenderness towards Boo and us.

Really friendly staff. Organized and punctual office. Dr was great with my pets. My dogs seemed more relaxed and content then they ever have been when visiting a veterinarian. Recently moved to the area and realized driving all the way to my dog’s last vet didn’t make sense. I was told about this place and it is very close to where we live. I was also told that they are very pricey, but after my first visit I felt the amount was reasonable. What I love most is their selection of flea medication. The topical kind doesn’t seem to work anymore and one of my dogs has a skin reaction so I stopped using that kind altogether. I now use their edible kind and it works so much better and lasts 3 months!
