They lost my mom! I went to visit after being told she was transferred to CVHC and they told me she wasn’t there. (Spoiler: She was there.)

Edit: She’s been there less than a day and she’s been ignored by staff and left in a dirty diaper and needing a clean bed. She’s irate and I’m disappointed. I’ve contacted the ombudsman’s office and filed a report.

My mother lived here for almost 6 years and I liked most of the staff. I don't understand why, but their are some people drawn to skilled nursing homes that thrive on abusing residents. My mother was on dialysis and in alot of pain in her last year and a half and she had a very contentious relationship with 1 RN in particular, that would not give pain medicine when it was due. She would prolong giving meds based on whether she liked you or not. I had several meetings with administrators there over the years about verbal and psychological abuse of my mother. It seemed to help temporarily, but eventually went back to the same. My mother died there in 2014, and as I went to see her body and get her things from her room, many valuables were missing (clothing, jewelry, perfumes and many sentimental keepsakes gone) Rather than fight the battle in my grief, I just let it go. It's taken me many years to get around to writing this but I finally have. My advice to anyone who is considering a skilled nursing facility or currently has a family member living in one is to keep diligent and be a watchful advocate for your loved one. There are good people that work in most facilities, but there are also evil abusive predators there, that enjoy making life hell for residents. People living there deserve dignity, respect and most of all love.

Where to begin...The receptionist lacks people skills, no greetings when you sign in at the front desk. Upon arrival on one occasion as I was signing in, I could hear one of the office staff members talking badly about a resident and their family members, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL... The aides who walk the halls also lack people skills, they don't acknowledge your presence and walk past with a sour look on their faces. Members of the nursing field are entrusted by family members that their loved ones will receive the proper care...not so in this facility! These people seriously lack professionalism, and empathy. Each visit to see my grandfather, he was soiled. And by the looks and smell of his brief, he was sitting in it for quite a while. One visit I asked for an aide to come in and change my grandfather, and the aide named Marina, had us waiting for over an hour and never showed up and passed the responsibility on to the next shift in which the other aide had no knowledge that I previously had asked for assistance. Being busy is one thing, but when you are seen chatting it up in the hallways, that is pure laziness. Not once did Marina check in and let us know that she would be sending someone to change my grandfather. Marj who is another aide, was very helpful. Anytime we called for assistance, she was always there promptly and made frequent checks on my grandfather. Another issue...My grandfather shared a room with another gentleman who upon entering the room always smelled like urine and feces. There were multiple times when he called for help and pulled his emergency cord and was ignored. The nurses station is nearby and the head nurse in the evening shift walked right past his room and ignored his screams for help, as well as many other aides who also walked past his room and ignored his yelling and screaming. This place is a nightmare come true!! I am so glad we were fortunate enough to have my grandfather transferred to another facility. This wasn't our first choice to begin with...If you truly love your loved one and want the best care for them STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! If I could, I would have given them zero stars...

This place used to be decent years ago but it's on the decline since then. Brought my young sister here for rehabilitation to recover from being sick and transported over from the local hospital for further care. Staff is unfriendly almost as though they're being forced to work. Cafeteria workers don't accommodate for certain foods patients needs in order to keep the body healthy. Nurses bringing the food to patients takes forever which is cold by the time the food reaches the rooms. Staff are bullies and intimidate the patients there they don't abide to their own individual rules. (They'll leave windows open to freeze patients at night or give them water mugs with seems to be mold growing at the bottom or dirt). Nurses smoke near the building which can be smelt up and down the facility in different rooms. Staff even started giving my sister unknown medication not prescribed by the doctor and lied about it. As infuriating as the whole experience is I wouldn't recommend this place even to my worst enemies. Lastly the staff uses the facility as their own personal Zumba business. Please do not bring your loved ones here I beg of you!

If you care about your loved one - DO NOT allow them to spend one minute in this facility. Our father was released to their care from the hospital. From the first 24 hours between the neglect, the medicine mistakes and being mistreated, we immediately looked to move him to another facility. We couldn't believe how unprofessional and lackadaisical the staff was. He was freezing and only had a light sheet on his bed - brought warm clothes from home for him to wear. Had to ask for a simple wash cloth - they hadn't bathed our father since he was checked in 6 days before. Finally on the 7th day we were able to get him released and discharged to another facility. When that facility inspected him on admission he was covered in open bed sores wounds and feces. I wouldn't allow a rabid dog to stay in this place. Don't allow your loved one. If I could score this zero stars I would.

"I would not take my dog to that place!" was the response I got when I told someone I had taken my husband there. I totally understand why. Do not take anyone you care about there. This place is awful.

I went to request some oxygen for hubby and was told that that did not rise to the level of an emergency to call the doctor. Seriously?!! Oxygen! Speaking of the doctor... never even saw him in the what only turned out to be three short days that he was there because he ended up being transported back to ER because his BP wasn't being monitored properly and I raised holy hell!!

Again -- DO. NOT. TAKE. ANYONE. YOU. LOVE. THERE! THEY. ARE AWFUL!!

If I could get away with no stars, I would.

Very little privacy with the 2 patient rooms, but it's understandable being a smaller facility.
We did have issues with miscommunication between staff and my Mothers needs.
Missed meals, not being checked on and long periods of waiting when the Call button was pushed.

I am currently a patient here and have not heard anything good about this place. Been here from the hospital almost all 3 days. The staff is excellent and does their job with skill and professionalism. If I need something I get it with a smile on their faces. The food isn't great, but I'm not here for the food, I'm here to recover. I'll repost after my release!
