We thank the Cooley Dickinson Team (nurses, midwives, lactation consultants, etc.) from the bottom of our hearts for providing us with a birthing experience and care that was beyond what we could have hoped for. We have not been able to stop gushing about them to all our family, friends and anyone else who will listen. Their patience and knowledge were unmatched by any other medical providers we have encountered. What struck us most was their ability and willingness to witness and validate our experience as individuals every step of the way. We were used to being dismissed or patronized as women in medical settings and the Cooley midwives and nurses approach/philosophy was incredibly refreshing, comforting and so appreciated. There are no other people we would have wanted to help us bring our son into the world with. We feel so lucky we chose Cooley. We bow down to them and all those who do this most important work of shepherding new life out on to the planet.

Don’t make appointments in Northampton, they’ll just cancel them and attempt to continuously reschedule you for the Amherst office. Better yet, find a different medical group entirely. The actual providers are great, but the issue is getting past the administrative office to see them. I’ve had appointments and ultrasounds changed and canceled with an hour’s notice, making it really difficult to trust or feel any kind of security and consistency. If I could change providers at this point in my pregnancy, I absolutely would.

I took my baby preparation course here despite delivering elsewhere as it was more convenient schedule-wise for me and my partner. I felt I learned little concrete, empirical information in the two 8 hour days. That aside, I am most upset by the fact that the instructor of the course suggested a book titled "Safe Sleep" by Le Leche League. As a first time mom I of course purchased the book hoping to learn how to get some sleep in those first few months. This book promotes cosleeping which is wholly unsafe and goes against AAP recommendations. This is negligent to be promoting, especially with unsuspecting new moms.

I have had a wildly bad experience with everyone but the doctor I met with here. The nurse who did the initial intake was incredibly rude, they scheduled me for the wrong type of appointment and then when I got there they couldn't even do the procedure I was assured would happen when I scheduled the appointment. Yet I still had to pay the copay to be belittled by one woman and then told I couldn't be helped by another. As a consolation my doctor assured me I would be called when the supplies they needed were back in stock, three weeks later and still no call. Today I called and was told they had come back in stock a while ago, but nobody deigned to call me. Literally one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a medical office.
