My appointments with Dr Melanie Greenman and my nurse (whose name I now regrettably forget) were the best experiences I've ever had with any doctors office. They were both kind, attentive, patient, and took their time to get to know me and to answer all my questions (I had many...). I felt comfortable and informed going into my appointments, and I never doubted that I was in great hands.

My experience with Dr. Beth Leopold was really great. I went in extremely anxious as I have a history of severe pain during gynecological exams. Dr. Leopold was warm, patient, and considerate. She let me feel in control of the situation, and I basically experienced no pain which was surprising and healing. I highly recommend her to anyone who struggles with pain/anxiety at the gyno.

Fit me in at 35 wks pregnant for a transfer of care due to issues at another local facility (not Cooley affiliated). The receptionist called me within 15 min of receiving my referral, and they fit me in as soon as possible. Everyone I've spoke to has been kind, helpful, and very understanding about me switching care so late in my pregnancy. I was concerned because i recognize its unusual to switch so late but felt it was in my unborn daughters best interest (and mine.) Nowhere else would take me past 30wks when i tried previously so I am thankful for everyone here! At the practice I was at before I could never get ahold of front desk, however I've never spent more than 5 mins waiting to speak to someone up front which is a great change of pace.

I had an IUD placed last week. The dr used the medieval torture device called tenaculum. I asked her if she was going to do pain managment for me during the procedure. She said "we don't do that, because women normally tolerate the insertion well". Then I told her I was nervous about the pain. She nodded and didn't respond, but proceeded to do the IUD. I didn't say anything else after that, I was just trying to get through the pain. It was a horrible experience.
I told her after we should have done pain managment. She said again, they don't do it, and there's nothing that could work anyways for cramping other than a motrin I can just take at home. I said no, I didn't mean the cramping in my uterus, I was talking about the pain, and injury, caused by the tenaculum to my cervix. She had to put pressure on it for 5 minutes because of the bleeding caused by it. Bleeding she assured me was normal and to be expected, also not a problem because it was just my cervix bleeding, not my uterus. I cried all the way home. I understand that it's a systemic issue, more than the fault of this specific provider. She did everything by the book. Unfortunately doing everything by the book in a patriarchal, harmful system includes perpetrating violence against women, using outdated methods, gaslighting, and dismissing pain. Normal in this context just means it's something that afab people routinely and silently suffer through. The dr did not listen, didn't take my pain seriously, did not validate, in fact she made me feel like i was whiney or weak for not tolerating it as well as all those other women. What women? In Europe they actually conducted studies and almost 90 percent of women reported pain during iud insertion. It's sad when doctors only believe women about their pain when it's what the book says.

Had an appointment today for the first time in almost two years, and I ended up leaving without being seen. Let’s first go back to why I haven’t been in so long. My doctor that I had been seeing for about four years cancelled an appointment that I had made after waiting out the beginning of the pandemic, with no reason given. Then I call to reschedule my appointment and find out that my doctor is taking a leave of absence, again, without being notified. Finally I was told after calling again to make an appointment that my doctor left the practice.

I rescheduled with a new doctor and the soonest they could get me in is several months from then. I took whatever I could get. Today I show up, 15 minutes early. Get called into my room to be examined at 11:30, my scheduled appointment time. I proceeded to wait for 50 minutes before I decided to get dressed and leave. Who knows how much longer I would have been waiting because no one came in to tell me how long it could be. Very unprofessional. Needless to say, I will not be going back.

I can’t say enough great things about this practice. I received exceptional pregnancy and postpartum care from them and they were there for me through some very stressful life circumstances. Every provider and staff person I encountered was brimming with empathy, compassion, and very personalized attention to my case. The support I received from these folks was truly life-changing; I highly, highly recommend them!
