I am so happy with my entire experience at Crimson Foot and Ankle and with Dr. Emily Cook. I’ve been visiting since spring of 2024 for various foot issues, some dealt with in office and two surgical (bunions). My feet have been giving me problems for over 20 years. All experiences have been amazing and given me great results! Happy is an understatement, I could seriously cry.

Dr. Emily Cook is a very skilled, wonderful doctor/surgeon. Not only does she have the educational background and years of experience, but she gives you that gut feeling that you are well taken care of. I would recommend her and her team to anyone.

The entire office is easy to work with. From the front desk, to the surgical coordinator, to the residents (shout out to Dr. Curry!!!!), everyone and everything here has been amazing.

I can’t stress enough how much I have loved working with the entire team. I know it’s a 5 star rating on Google but can I give them a 10?!

I’m still currently healing, but have had a great experience so far. Every time I have called or had a question it was answered. Through surgery Dr. Basile and crew were amazing. Basile has good energy and cracks some funny jokes along the way too. Keith Crenshaw has also been phenomenal and really shows the time and care to his patients. I had him with broken ankle at first through emergency room, he spent extra time to protect my foot and set back into place. With detail they have all explained and gone through things throughly! Hoping for speedy recovery and we follow back.

I’m not impressed with this group. Aside from billing being a gigantic mess, I waited for almost an hour and a half for my last visit, to have two 5 minute consults, with a gap of 20 min in between. No interest in helping me figure out which of my prior steps which they had recommended (stretching, brace, shoe inserts, etc) was on the right track. Just “It’s still not healed after a month? Then off to PT with you.” They are in their own world and that world doesn’t seem to include patients’ thoughts, questions, or understanding, etc.

Re billing….. they have a tiny window 9-2:30 M-F and don’t pick up during that time. They beg you not to pay via mychart. Total mess.

Go at your own peril. I paid them and they kept saying that I owed money. When trying to get in touch with their billing, it was impossible. She(their billing dept is one person…) didn’t answer calls or email. When I finally got in touch after 20+ attempts on different days I finally paid…. Except I am still getting bills months later. When trying to call or email again, silence…

Oh… and a 5 min appointment had 1.5 hour wait and cost 780 dollars..

Edit: finally sorted it out.

These doctors really don’t care about their patients. I had a podiatrist elsewhere who confirmed a PTTD diagnosis, however while needing to switch and considering this practice, my concerns and pain from bunions completely dismissed. I next went to an orthopedic doctor as the foot pain was causing pain to hips and knee. I was diagnosed with Forefoot vagus and PT to address this issues. None of this was addressed or even noticed by the doctor Basile. The interns had more compassion in this practice. You will be medically gaslighted at Crimson, seek care elsewhere as I did. At the very least you’ll be treated like a human.

I had an appt to meet with Dr. Cook last month at their Mt Auburn Hospital office, an appt I had been waiting for nearly two mos. I arrived and after a long wait, I saw an intern who told me the doctor would be with me shortly but could I consent to let him examine me. For the next 20 min, he goes through a long list of questions and does a physical exam. Then a surgical resident comes in and says Dr. Cook is detained in surgery, and then goes through the exact same questions/exam over the next 20 min, not even looking to or acknowledging the intern still in the room, expending my limited energy. Then I get sent for imaging, which shows my foot is in not great shape. The resident calls me back in, talks to me about the results and recommends surgery. When I start asking questions, he says those are best left to Dr. Cook, who will follow up with me when he returns from vacation next week (I thought he was in surgery?). A whole month goes by and no follow up and I am anxious because I want to know more about this surgery I should have since it will likely interrupt my life a lot for a good 6-8 wks. So, I write to Dr. Cook on MyChart requesting a telehealth appt to discuss my surgery options and what it would entail. A few hours later, a woman (I am guessing a Medical or office asst?) named "Melissa F." writes back and says they don't do telehealth "due to the nature of the practice" (whatever that means) but Dr. Cook can try to give me a quick "courtesy call." She also tells me the doc was out the day of my appt last month due to COVID (not surgery or vacation, the two excuses I was told that day) but that he is now on vacation and can maybe contact me next week. I write back and clarify that I am disabled and I'd like to have a telehealth appt as a reasonable accommodation under ADA to really go over things. I explain that since COVID expanded telehealth that should mean they have such options available to offer me. I also politely express some frustration that I went to the other appt and didn't see the doctor but a resident and intern. She writes me back a fairly epic and pretty defensive email (I can't write her one back as long as I am constrained by the MyChart program by word count) about how well-versed she is not just in ADA but all these other laws and policies she starts citing that have absolutely nothing to do with my request, and saying telehealth appts aren't mandatory by federal law and that residents ARE doctors (but he wasn't the doctor I was supposed to see and he himself told me it wasn't his place to talk more about surgical options). She asserts she's meeting my accommodation by putting in for a "courtesy call" (which I am sure people know why that's not the same as an actual appt). The woman clearly didn't know how ADA works--because her response was not just inaccurate but inappropriate and quite frankly, came across as discriminatory and ILLEGAL, esp considering their own website states they offer telehealth appts. She stated she can't just offer patients telehealth upon patient request--but I am a disabled patient asking for an accommodation, which is different. Under ADA, medical offices are supposed to be able to work with disabled people to offer them reasonable accommodations they request unless it presents a financial or administrative burden. Telehealth is fairly affordable/mainstream now and this isn't a dinky one-person indie office on a tiny budget but a chain with the backing of a major hospital. It seems the office has offered telehealth in other cases, and may still be doing it as per the info on their website. I filed a formal complaint with the hospital.

Dr. Emily Cook was great. However, (some, not all of) the members of the billing staff that I interacted with were extremely rude and unprofessional. Although the medical care itself was good, unfortunately I would not consider returning to this location due to the few unprofessional members of the billing staff.

I have a bilateral foot injury due to an auto accident. I have been referred to a foot specialist by my physical therapist after experiencing intense muscle spasms in both feet. Because the Crimson website offers after hour appointments twice per week (which they do not honor), I chose to continue foot care here in effort to better compliment my new work schedule. Unfortunately, I never gotten the opportunity to see a doctor at this facility. The administration staff provided unacceptable customer service. The folks hired to schedule appointments are extremely unprofessional, inconsistent and irresponsible. They lack customer service skills, communication (phone) etiquette skills and empathy for the patients they have been hired to serve. On more occasions than one, they notified me of expensive fees that were due at the time of my visit, the day of my scheduled appointment. Representatives from this facility have made financial arrangements (liens) with my lawyer that were not honored. And lastly, I took time off from my new job just to a receive a voice mail message (as I was on the train en route to my appointment) stating that I must pay a large fee once I arrived. This was the 3rd time that Crimson had SMACKED me with a unexpected fee, THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT.

I reached out to the manager, but she never returned my call. My lawyer made financial arrangements with Crimson (that temporarily waved the very expensive new patient fee), BUT THEY NEVER HONORED the arrangement. They falsely advertise evening appointments (appointments available until 7pm as specified on the website)... AND THE LIST GOES ON!

Who knows? The doctors may be excellent. Unfortunately, one may never find out due to the ignorant staff and leadership hired to provide customer service.
