I LOVE this hospital. I had my son here 7 years ago and just got out of surgery for gallbladder removal yesterday. The Nurse Ellen I think her name is? She's from Ireland and she's the sweetest, most patient, gentle and understanding person. She's so genuine and sweet, I'm so glad she picked this field of work because we do need people like her working in these facilities. I was so comfortable and taken care of the entire time. Procedure was fast and thorough. I just wish the doctor gave me a little more information about my recovery and medicine for post-opp. But everything else went well. Everyone there was friendly and easy to talk to. Thank you all.

Worst experience of my life. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I went to the emergency room at Desert Regional and had a terrible experience from the start. This wasn’t even my first attempt at getting care—I had been there the night before, and a registration staff member named Teresa told me there would be a four-hour wait without even taking down my information.

When I returned, the registration process was just as awful. The staff was rude, and one employee, Cuenta, even yelled at me, accusing me of “making faces” at her. I was completely exhausted—I hadn’t slept in three days and was in severe pain. I had no idea what “faces” she was talking about because I was barely holding myself together.

When I asked for help, Supervisor Evelyn Ortega came over, not to resolve the issue, but to defend her staff. She told me they needed proof of insurance because Kaiser “sometimes doesn’t pay them.” That made no sense—I’ve never had billing issues at any other facility. She also stated that Desert Regional isn’t contracted with Kaiser and suggested I drive an hour to Eisenhower, a Kaiser-contracted facility. Why would I do that when my workplace is just five minutes away?

Instead of helping, she made things worse. She stressed me out by talking about medical bills I might have to pay if Kaiser didn’t cover the visit. I originally came in for chest and back pain but left with even more anxiety and frustration.

And let’s be real—I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was more than just a billing issue. Yes, I’m a brown girl, but I’m also an educated brown girl. The way I was treated felt less about policy and more about prejudice. The disrespect, the lack of basic human decency, and the dismissive attitude I received were unacceptable.

It’s unfortunate that the front desk staff is so horrible because the doctors and actual nurses were really kind. They were the only bright spot in this entire experience.

What a.horrible place. I thought I was in a WW2 army hospital with patients on gurneys in the halls. Palm Springs should be ashamed of such an important asset of any city. The board of regents need to slam the brakes on how it's ran and start firing staff without patients concerned as their top prior. Doctor who stared at you when your trying to give background information, then looks surprised when he saw the CAT of my neck. Never heard a word I said about the prior injuries to my spine. 1 star is more than deserved. Malpractice torts are what's needed.

The people who answered the phone keeps hanging up on you if they don't feel like talking to you anymore. Can't seem to find the patient (although he is definitely there...). Generally speaking, not very helpful or polite . Not sure about the medical care yet, I will update the review later today.
Update:
I want to express my gratitude for the care my husband received in the Emergency Room and later in the department. The staff in the ER were attentive, professional, and compassionate, making us feel supported throughout the entire process. In the department, the team continued to provide great care, always being kind, patient, and service-oriented. They took the time to thoroughly explain the next steps in my treatment, which gave mus great confidence and peace of mind. Thank you for your dedication!

My boyfriend got hospitalized right after thanksgiving. The ER was very packed but my boyfriend’s situation was serious so they promptly got him the help he needed. The nurses in the ER were very kind and professional. He got sent to the PCU and nurse Cody and Susie took care of him and they were both so wonderful! They make you feel seen, heard and taken care of. They even care about the patients visitors. I was truly impressed with the nurses, they deserve a raise! Thank you Cody and Susie for such great care!

I was airlifted to the trauma center with broken ribs. Punctured lung and broken collarbone. I've been to half a dozen hospitals, I've had lots of surgeries, experiences with myself and family. I have never been to a facility that cared for me and treated me the way that I've been treated in any other hospital facility. Best hospital. I've ever been in hands down. I give them 5 stars and 2 thumbs, I only have 2. If I had more, I'd give those.
