This review is for appointment scheduling; the doctors and nurses have been fantastic.
I had an appointment scheduled, and when I arrived, it was not in the system. The staff had called me to schedule the original appointment.
It was not possible to fit me in to make-up for the mix-up. It was up to me to reschedule (put up with the discomfort for a bit longer) and find time to return on another day. It is the first time this has happened. I'm waiting to see whether they'll check into it, but I no longer believe what I see on the portal. I don't frequently leave negative reviews. I'd be happy to update my review if there is any resolution so that others don't face the same issue.
Edit: I reached out to whoever responded to this post, and it appears to be a 3rd party.

Booked a problem visit for a concern and was able to get in next day. The scheduler told me appointment was at 10:40, so I arrived at 10:38 to check in. Apparently, my appointment was at 10:30 actually (either scheduler told me wrong time or I misheard) and because now I was technically 8 mins late, the doctor wouldn’t see me and I was asked to reschedule for July…literally 2 months later. I said forget it and walked out, and can’t believe they did not allow at least a
10-min grace period for a patient, when doctors consistently make you wait FAR longer in a waiting room until you’re seen. Will never go here again and will tell everyone I know to stay far away. They do not put patient’s first, and are more than willing to give away your scheduled time to someone else.
Edited to add: Received an automated letter from NCH about “missing this appointment” so called back to explain what ACTUALLY happened and found out that the practice seriously tried to fabricate my check-in time to be 10:46, which would have been 16 minutes late and likely within reason for them to turn me away. I’m quite sure they did that so they don’t have on record that they cancelled an existing patient appointment (one who has never been late to an appointment in the past two years at NCH) after only 8 minutes, for no reason. However, what they did not realize is that I have a call record from exactly 10:44am that day, to the office, and spoke to someone and left a message for the office manager to discuss this issue. Curious then how I “checked in” two minutes after calling to complain about being turned away? Not to mention my cell location would reveal where I actually was, which was driving away at that point. I doubt it’s legal to manipulate medical records…beware of this shady practice.

We see one of the physicians as my primary and pediatrician for my children. Recently, we have been there twice for my son when he was sick. We were turned away both times because (1) in December last year, they don’t see patients with positive COVID, (2) today, they don’t see patients younger than 14 years old. First of all, for (1), we knew he had COVID but developed ear infection, so we wanted to have it checked out and get a prescription for an antibiotic. What if I didn’t test my son, and walked in with symptoms and ear pain? At this visit, there was no mention that they don’t see patients who are younger than 14 years old. (2) Today, we came in because my son had a sore throat. They turned us away a second time. This time, because my son is younger than 14 years old. There was no communication from them to notify patients that their NPs don’t see patients younger than 14 years old. I would think the primary care NPs are trained to see patients of all ages. I don’t understand why there is such policy. The front staff told us that we either need to go to the immediate care or his pediatrician. I told them his pediatrician is here. Then they told me they don’t have pediatrician here today, which leads to the issue of poor staffing. Asides from these two sick walk-in visits, in order to schedule a well check-up visit, it would takes a long time to get in. I understand policies are in places to help improve care and efficiency. But I don’t understand these policies regarding the above scenarios. They do not makes sense. The communication is poor regarding notifying patients of changes. Needless to say, we will not utilize this NCH primary care anymore for well check-up nor sick visits.

- poor availability. 6 mo. out for primary, 3 mo. for derm.
- poor communication from staff. was told to have blood work done along with physical and would need to "come back". was not told blood work was done in lab and did not require appointment. I had wasted time off from work to come in and learn this.
- got a referral to mental health and therapy department and missed initial call. i called back but never received any return call. its been two years.
- my SO called to set up an appointment for a primary care visit and never received a call back.
- came in for rash on body that wasnt responding to ointment. dr was 25 minutes late, had me take my shirt off but did not get out of his chair to look at or test rash. prescribed me some things and sent me on my way. total visit time <10 minutes. rash was not responding to treatment so I contacted the office. dr prescribed me more steroids and told me to continue on. rash has continued to get much worse since then and i am currently seeking 2nd opinion.
I understand things are hard in the medical world now, but I have had issues with this location since before the pandemic. I came to this location after Dr. Man had relocated here from her previous office off of Hicks. She is a fantastic doctor and I welcome the day she is at a new location, but until then I can not come here anymore, for my own physical and mental health.

I started there with Dr Bartels 5+years ago and she was the kindest most comforting Dr I have ever had! Her medical assistant was as kind and warm as she was! I really went through a lot in 5 plus years and she was there with me every step of the way! I have lived in the NW suburbs all my life and where people think there are no medical differences in race there is! Dr Bartels never hesitated to understand or have compassion for me being an African American female! What she didn’t know she made sure to ask or educated herself so she could understand! It will be very hard to find someone to understand and welcome differences be it by gender or race! But I will continue to complete my journey for healthcare in the community where I live! Dr Bartels will be missed!

One of the worst customer services and billing department. I was recommended for physical therapy and when I started my first session I was given an estimate of about $125 to $140 per session however I got billed for average $210 per session which is way more than the estimate I was printed and given. When I reached out to the billing department I was told they will forward for review and on multiple follow-ups I was told that estimates are estimates. They made tall claims of transparency while giving me the estimate and turns out that they just care about fooling n making money by sharing low estimate and billing high. Useless billing department who does not even return call despite raising a complaint. This hospital is highly disappointing and I would highly recommend staying away from them.

I had a great experience with Dr. Abraham. I didn't feel rushed, he took the time and listened to all my concerns as we went over my medical history. He went over medication side effects and understood that was a major concern for me. I highly recommend him and will definitely return. I walked in his office feeling like it was gonna be another dead end for me but left feeling happy and hopeful. When you deal with chronic pain that says a lot!

Don’t waste your precious time visiting NCH medical group or be ready to spend half day waiting for your turn.
I took my wife in walk in. After sign in we waited for hour or so seeing 4-5 people being called in who were there before us. We thought it’s our turn but to our surprise another 6-7 people who signed in after us were called in within next hour or so.
I went to ask how this ”walk in” thing works and to my surprise they told me that they call in based on urgency and my wife’s turn will come in another half hour or so because there are couple of urgent cases before her. I asked her what if some more urgent cases come in between to that she replied that your wife would be seen as if it was some kind of charity this clinic is doing.
I find it very unreasonable as this is not an emergency room to decide priority like that. I would never take my chances again with NCH medical group.
