Careful with what you say to the person interviewing your family for a possible placement. Although you will stretch that an issue was reported and taken care of, they will still call law enforcement. As soon as law enforcement contacted me and I clarified what I had already clarified to the Evolve woman on the phone, they hung up and it was the end of it. But the hassle, while you and your family are already going through so much trauma it was just enough for us to take them off our list, and thank goodness we did! We went with an amazing place called Ascend and it was 5 starts from the first contact to check out.

Our Dear Evolve Family,

My name is Mona Chunara, and my daughter’s name is Alisa (Rust) Chunara.

My family and I feel incredibly fortunate to have found Evolve Residential Treatment House in Woodland Hills to support our daughter. Words cannot fully express our gratitude for the care and dedication of the entire Evolve team. We hope that every family navigating mental health challenges for their loved ones can discover this incredible facility.

The staff, administrators, and everyone involved foster a compassionate, supportive environment that has made a world of difference for Alisa and for our entire family. Not only did Alisa receive all the support she needed during her stay, but the team also ensured a smooth transition into aftercare programs like PHP and IOP. They guided us step by step through her reintegration into school and daily life, equipping her with confidence and self-esteem.

A special thank you to Ms. Kendall, Alisa’s therapist, for her unwavering understanding, encouragement, and kindness. Her compassionate and humble nature truly shines, and her support has been a cornerstone of Alisa’s journey.

Because of the collective effort of the entire team, Alisa and I have been able to reconnect and enjoy our time together in meaningful ways.

As we leave Evolve Residential, my family and I carry cherished memories of Alisa’s time there. Though our stay was brief, its impact on our lives is profound and lasting. For this, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to every member of the Evolve family.

Our special thanks to Ms. Kendall, Ms. Urtecho, Dr. Chu, Ms. Aguilar, Ms. Katryn, the nurses, and all the other staff members whose names we may have unintentionally missed. Each of you played an invaluable role in Alisa’s journey and our family’s healing.

Thank you for your compassion, guidance, and unwavering support!

With deepest appreciation,
Mona, Alisa, and Family

I was there in July 2024, this was my experience. I don't recommend being sent here right from inpatient (mental hospital/ psych ward.) The environment can often be overwhelming. We were ranked based off "levels" which basically determines what privileges you. The scale of privileges were stupid and included things like, shaving, plucking hairs, wearing make up, getting more than 3 minutes to shower. Having to EARN basic hygiene was genuinely insane to me. The levels felt so degrading and people on lower levels who tried their best to move up felt very unmotivated. Basically the only way to level up is to be fake as hell to the staff to get on their good side so they'll write down good stuff about you. Lessons for groups would often get repeated multiple times and when we informed staff of this, they just kinda brushed it off and went on with the "lesson." The Rcs were amazing and honestly lightened the mood. The program itself is the thing that sucks. This place was so isolating and BORING, the SMART recover felt very unserious, groups were just reading from paper. If you don't make friends there then ur stay will be absolutely ass even tho there's always kids that get left out. I recommend a residential in Florida, there is no levels, they get out of the house everyday, they watch TV before bed (we could literally watch TV once MAYBE twice a week.) There needs to be better protocols for when clients go fukin bonkers cause this dude was saying he was gonna kill people so they made all of us huddle in the small group room for HOURS while he had the whole house. Another time this girl took like 3 hours in the shower and we all had to wait upstairs until she was done, we was hungry bro. Anyways there's so much more but if ur thinking about going hereGoodluck! I am actually really happy now ā˜ŗļø thx April and Val and Denese, and Narissa and Jerry

My son was at this center for 6 weeks and made more progress in that time than he has in 6 years of counseling. I found the majority of the staff to be professional and compassionate. There were a couple of issues with some of the RC's that upset him and me, but I spoke with the director and I know that those things have been addressed. Overall, I will recommend this program to anyone who asks. There is no such thing as perfection in therapy. Everyone has their own process. I am a counselor, I had all the energy in the world for my son, I gave him every resource I could think of and it was not enough. He got exactly what he needed from his time at Evolve. He has been home for about 6 weeks now, and I could not be happier with his responses to life. His counselor, Stephanie, helped him in ways that no one else has been able to. I am eternally grateful for everything.
The only other thing that I would add is that if you are thinking of sending your child to Evolve, follow through. If they participate and you participate, you will likely get the results you are looking for. Be honest around your child's needs and don't hesitate to let the counselors or director know if something is not working, in my experience they will do all that they can to make the appropriate changes.

I would highly recommend this facility my best friends 17 year old son went here for five weeks. The staff is fantastic, young, educated and hip enough for his son to connect with.

His first three weeks were tough, coming off the weed. It has nothing to do with facility he just needed to sober up.

He and his wife did a lot of research before putting their son here and they asked me to write a great review for them to keep it anonymous.

Great Staff good job you guys keep it up.

I am so disappointed in this place. I was working with them for weeks to get my son admitted, only to be told he needs a higher level of care. When I told them I’ve already looked at those and they aren’t a possibility they couldn’t care less. They don’t care about actually helping kids. If they don’t feel your child is just the right fit they wash their hands of you and leave you abandoned and confused. It’s so frustrating to want to help your child, for your child to want help, for my insurance company on board waiting to help, but the place that is supposed to help...won’t. I will never recommend this place after how I was treated

i went here in december 2020 kind of as a last resort because i didn’t kno what else to do to get better. the first week was very hard as i knew no one knew no skills and was across the country from my family. but the staff there was so supportive and encouraging. the thing i’m most thankful for is that they don’t treat you like you’re less than which is how it is at many facilities i never felt put down there. if you’re deciding on going here wether you’re a kid or a parent thinking of sending your kid my advice is go and take full advantage of it, take the program seriously and put in the effort and you will see a difference once you’re out and remember it’s okay to still have bad days when you get out. since i’ve come back home i’ve noticed that i don’t even need to think abt the skill to use it and be effective it’s like my mind does it for me now. if you go remember to bring some comfort items like pictures or a blanket or stuffed animal it’ll make it a little easier to cope w being away from family. the staff there really do care about you don’t be afraid to talk to them or let them help. and btw they will always be up for jokes they definitely make free time more fun.

Go up
