I had an amazing massage today. However, I’m giving four stars because they charge a three dollar transaction fee for credit card use. We all have to pay taxes and no one carries cash any more. Paying $3 for cc fees takes away from wanting to tip 20% and also takes away from the enjoyment of the massage.
Last thing you should probably update the tipping prices on the sign inside because they’re incorrect.

First time ever getting a massage! Decided to do a couple massage since they had a great deal on Groupon. We traveled thirty minutes and it definitely was worth the drive. The location is above H&M on the second floor to the left of the building. Took us a few minutes trying to find it. We recommend making an appointment ahead of time as we noticed they were busy and turning walk in clients away due to being busy. We checked in and only waited a few minutes (not bad for a Saturday evening). We were taken back to a room where my husband and I got an hour long massage. Very efficient and I left feeling sore in a very good way! They were able to get many of my knots on my back out. Will definitely return due to great service.

TERRIBLE - will not recommend.

despite making a reservation beforehand, the rooms were not cleaned upon arrival. the massage techniques were repetitive and abrasive. the therapists were rude and gave a black face when the tips are not enough according to what they recommended. they wouldn't let us leave until they get the amount of tips that they want. terrible and absolutely will not come back.

I have been going to the Grotto for a couple years now and have enjoyed 10+ massages with no issues. On my last visit the massage was good and relaxing. When paying I tipped the woman who had given me the massage. She seemed upset and pointed to a sign that outlined suggested tip amounts. The experience was very uncomfortable. I am regretful that I will no be going back to the Grotto after this experience.

This place should get 10 stars, came here today for my one year anniversary with my wife and got the one hour couples massage, I like how they ask at the front desk what kind of pressure you want when you first walk in, the therapist were very nice, me and my wife both work a warehouse job so we’re always on our feet and we workout a lot and the massage was very helpful, will definitely be coming back on our next visit to Carlsbad

Had the deep tissue couples massage with hot stones today! It was amazing! This is my second visit to this location and both times have been great. The first time was with my adult daughter and we had the 90 minute couples massage. Today I was with my sister and we had the 90 minute couples massage. Both excellent experiences. We left very happy!
