I am very disappointed in Holmes Regional. Even before my surgery date there were issues during interactions with the staff. No matter how polite I was, they had no sense of urgency or willingness to help, they'd just hang up on me or transfer me to a different department. They refused to believe my insurance was covering the procedure when the issue was an incorrect diagnosis code.

My doctor was wonderful but some of the nurses here lack empathy and will watch you suffer in the recovery room and do nothing. I had a bad panic reaction to the anesthesia and was in a lot of pain and they just stood around and watched. Hopefully I will never have to come back to this place, what a nightmare.

Interminable wait times, overcrowded, overwhelmed and outdated.

My experience at Health First Holmes was nothing short of awful. It is imperative that the hospital administration takes immediate action to address the systemic issues plaguing this facility. This includes investing in modern infrastructure, increasing staffing levels, and providing ongoing training to ensure that patients receive the care and compassion they deserve.

Until then, I would advise against visiting this hospital, unless absolutely necessary

I just had a hysterectomy this morning. From security, to the admitting front desk personnel, to the nurse who did my IV port(can’t remember her name but we bit love Cuban espresso lol), to my nurse Esperanza, my anesthesiologist Dr. Hall and her assistant Sara, the surgical team in the O.R. to include Ashley and Kaitlyn, Cindy in the recovery room, Pam the family liaison who gave my mom updates during the whole process, and the young man who wheeled me out to the pickup waiting room made a stressful time for me less stressful and were all friendly and professional. My OBGYN, Dr. Bovelsky did an amazing job, I feel pretty good and it was done and over with quickly, plus he’s funny to boot. I am very satisfied with my experience there.

I wish I would’ve known your whole birthing department was the way it is before my daughter had her baby there. Having a baby should be a wonderful experience for the mother and the family, but unfortunately your department is not that it is far from it. The families are not felt very welcome. I can understand when there’s complications but when there is no complications and everything is running smoothly and the family is not welcome. In the early part of Delivery, when the mother is just laying in the bed, not even ready for the birth yet family member should be allowed in the rooms are big enough for that. I can understand limiting when it’s time to give birth. But denying the mother to have who she wants in there beforehand is not acceptable. And when something did come up after the birth when you’re asking a question that has nothing to do with information about medical which is not a HIPAA because you’re not asking about medical info and your staff Misunderstanding is how they put it we misunderstanding you ! Is not acceptable I’m asking what room my daughter is in so I can go back there with her and you come out telling me that that’s a HIPAA violation I cannot give you any medical info ! I’m not asking for info in medical. I’m asking where my daughter is so I can go be with her because she is crying and calling me to come back. The nurse had to literally come out and get me because that department misunderstood me ! How they can misunderstand that I have no idea I just think all the Lady knew was to come out of that office and say everything is a Violation ! Again, having a baby should be a great happy experience for the whole family and the mother that is giving birth! Not a horrible experience! Anyone that says that she might wanna really look around for other place arrangements because I promise you you will not have a great experience here! And this was my daughter‘s first baby and I promise you home regional she is not having another one there

The young lady at the entrance of the zone B lobby was super helpful and nice. The procedure I needed done went smoothly as well. The reason for the 5 stars is the young lady named Satori..she helped calm me down by playing one of my favorite artists. This was above and beyond what her job is at the hospital. That was kind and i will forever remember the hospitality and comfort you showed me during an overwhelming time. Thank you

Currently into hour 4 of waiting to be seen. In the lobby of the ER. Was told there was a room assigned over 45 minutes ago. They had to check my mom’s vitals twice because it’s been so long. My poor elderly mother back neck and chest pain from a fall. This is sickening. Don’t come here. Driving to Orlando would have been much quicker. This place is worse than bad.

As a Brevard County native, I am saddened to have watched the "Brevard Hospital" turn into a commercialized business as opposed to a quality health care facility. There must be a better process for communications between employees at this hospital. There is no apparent consistency in care or communication during shift turnover. The BEST service we received was from a gentleman operator answering the phones when I was advised to call the charge nurse. In order to get one straight answer you either have to be lucky enough to be visiting when the doctor comes in the room, or you have to corner 5 different nurses in order to get one comprehensive / consistent explanation. With elderly parents, I see more of the Health First hospitals than I want to. There is always three or four excellent nurses, but more often the nurses these days are just people needing jobs as opposed to dedicated individuals who truly care about their patients. Patients clearly need their own advocates at this hospital. Maybe you are all short-handed and its forcing you to keep some nurses who are CLEARLY not up to par, while others run circles around them, I don't know but it is frustrating and SCARY. OH and don't try to call the charge nurse, if there really is one, they are no where to be found. I was on hold over 18 minutes waiting for ANYBODY to pick up the phone to answer a question I had about my dad's discharge and finally I just hung up and had to drive there and become a pest to get any action. We have decided when open enrollment comes again we will change dad's insurance so he can use different hospitals than any Health First hospital. Viera Health First was even worse, with patients lining the hallways in stretchers in the emergency room for hours and hours. At least in Melbourne we got a room within a few hours after it was determined dad needed to be admitted. You know, I host traveling nurses from all over the country in our rental unit and after they have worked at a Health First hospital, they tell us that if we get sick to go to Advent in Orlando, Tampa or Jax if we have something serious going on. We are consistently told that Health First has the worst managed hospitals they have ever worked in. I'm so sorry to say that, but this is so sad and VERY SCARY. If you want to learn how to run a hospital the right way, go to the Moffitt Center in Tampa and take some lessons.
