Nurses are very nice but they are extremely slow. The bathroom in the back at the emergency room is very nasty. Toilet is awful,you have to flush several times to even get toilet paper to go down. Long hair all in the sink,and the floor looks like it hasn't been sweep or mopped in years.

Friday night I had a kidney stone. I’m not wired normally and I’m so thankful that the staff at Helen Keller emergency room and the second floor went so above and beyond to help me. I passed an 8 m kidney stone without narcotics or surgery. I have bradycardia and they took such good care of me and looked out for me.
When I came in, I was sad because due to my condition I wasn’t traveling to see my son. My second floor nurse Lindsey had me laughing and smiling through the pain and through my own feelings. I just think that they care a lot more than they have to, and I want everyone to know that. Sometimes I can be quite difficult when I’m in severe pain, but it helps when someone is so Caring and good at what they do.

I was sent to Helen Keller Hospital because an ultrasound showed a blood clot behind my right knee. I was seen by the ER primary physician Dr R. Crock. I don't think I was there for 30 minutes. No labs, tests, treatment, scans or anything. A nurse was about to put in an IV and the doctor walked in and told him no and that I was going home. I was sent home with a prescription for a blood thinner. They didn't even give me any blood thinners while I was there. I was discharged somewhere around 7:00 p.m.

Later that night the pain in my leg continued and just wouldn't quit and I couldn't take it any longer so I went to North Alabama medical center where I had labs, tests and scans etc; only to find that I not only had the clot behind my right knee but a few others in my lungs and was admitted. I'm writing this review from my hospital bed.

LICE. So I had a baby there in may this year and the l&d nurses were so great! I would give 5 stars butttt 2 weeks after I had the baby and went home I discovered I had lice. I had only been to the hospital and home and the time it takes lice to hatch matched up with the time I had been in the hospital. I have never in my life had lice and don’t want it again. Be cautious and don’t take your own pillows and blankets in or really any cloth materials. Taking care of a newborn, trying to heal, then dealing with lice has been an absolute nightmare.

This hospital used to be loving kind and patient with their patients that used to help them at all possible.Now, if you insurance don't pay for something they don't try to find something your insurance pays.And they're not friendly or care, giving at all anymore.If I was you, I would drop all the way to Huntsville.I our not even go to a hospital in this area

If you want to go here when you fainted had a seizure have aniemia high blood sugar Celiac and actually have a medical issue to get told you have a UTI from anxiety why we are giving you an IV drip with clear liquids sureee

My daughter just had her baby here. I cannot speak for the rest of the hospital but the labor and delivery department is amazing!!! All of the nurses she had were so sweet and kind. They did what ever they could to try and make her comfortable. Awesome people!!!

My husband needed to be seen here on 12/22/23. We were the ONLY people in the lobby and didn’t get called back for an hour, mind you as we pass the other rooms no one is in there. Then when we did get in a room, we seen the nurse twice, once for initial triage after an hour and an hour later to clean his laceration. We didn’t see the doctor, Dr. Neal Steil, until we had been here for almost four hours, he came in and stitched his lip (did not give us any type of cleaning or care instructions) and said okay you can go home. My husband had to ASK for a facial X-Ray, which showed his nasal bone is fractured. Not to mention we were treated horribly the entire time since we were there due to a work-related injury (we were required to come to this hospital), they didn’t give him his drug test until I had to ask for it. Fast forward to 12/24/23, my husband is having massive headaches, nausea, dizziness. We return to the ED as instructed by his work. The nurse is already being extremely rude and hateful the moment we said we were here again from two nights before with worsening problems. The nurse goes into a long rant about how he probably has a concussion but there is nothing they can do and that he would send the doctor in but that he wouldn’t do anything. The doctor comes in, Dr. Thomas Davis, and we express to him our concerns that brought us there and the horrible care we received two nights prior, and he showed actual concern. He got a head CT, did an oral examination for my husband’s teeth (which the previous doctor did not do), and even looked through his nostrils (again the previous doctor did not do), we thought things were going great. Then the nurse comes in THREE HOURS LATER and says the CT showed the same nasal fractures and we can go home. I’m sorry what? You don’t send your doctors back in here to discuss exam results? You send your nurses? Again, he was very rude and told my husband he needed to figure it out somehow else because he wasn’t going to get any help through the ER. I am VERY disappointed in this hospital and this ER. I used to work here and loved it, but boy being a patient here sure does change up the treatment. VERY unprofessional.
