My friend is 8 1/2 months pregnant, she has been recieving a bill since February, for an ultra sound to confirm her pregnancy, in January. Her insurance covers 100% of everything that has to due with her pregnancy, whether it’s tests, ultrasounds, hospital visits, everything. She was concerned because she was getting a bill, and called her insurance company who told her that the reason she was getting billed, was because the company had 90 days to submit the bill to insurance, and they did it at 93 days. She was told to call imaging associates and tell them they needed to file an appeal. Image associates did file an appeal, which the insurance company rejected. She was under the impression that she was still responsible for the bill because the bill states “insurance is stating balance is patients responsibility”. She called the insurance again and they said in no way is she responsible for the bill and it is 100% due to an error on imaging associates part. Not only did they lie and say her insurance said she needed to cover it, but they also had the audacity of trying to charge her a late fee. My friend has spent close to 8 months trying to figure out this billing issue, and it just concerns me how many people, worried about getting late fees, just end up paying out of fear of negative repercussions. Shame on you imaging associates.
