I really love my primary care Doctor at IU Health, Fort Wayne… but I’m not impressed with a few of the nurses. My experience with the nurse today was ridiculous. First, I woke with a high fever and didn’t think I felt well enough to drive but bc If I were to call and cancel, for good reason, they would count me as A NCNS attendance .. despite the circumstances. Not that long ago we canceled an appointment for my son the day of bc we decided to take my son to the ER …instead of the front desk person being concerned and understanding for my 15 yr olds best health interest …they were more concerned with making it it clear that they were still counting us a NCNS. So first, you can’t even exercise common sense or you are documented for poor attendance. When I got there I had to call my husband to come and help me and drive me home. Second, I was so delirious with fever I was unable to try to fill out all the paperwork at check in and instead of them acknowledging how ill I was feeling and offering to print it out and bring it to me so I could sit down… I had to do that myself as I almost passed out . Mind you, this is a clinic for the sick so patients will come in sick and may need the nursing staff to be compassionate and helpful rather than cold and judgmental. Third, the nurse who was assigned to us not only has poor communication skills but the entire visit she was only concerned about her catching the illness. She made sure to stand far away, she said ..”you need to wear a mask because I don’t want the ick” (how professional is that) … when taking temperature she stood far away barley getting the thermometer in my ear and told me I had temp of 100.5 to which I said I feel delirious to which she replied…” that’s not a high temperature..” to dismiss my having a temp, however if she put the thermometer in properly it would have been higher. She did not ask if my daughter would need a school note. Once the doctor came in, who is wonderful, did all the stuff and said he was testing for all the things to decide on the path of treatment. Again, the nurse reluctantly came in to do the testing standing back as far as could and acting very rude to sick patients. 20 minutes later she cracked the door and just stuck her head in and said you have Influenza Type A and I said ok and what the treatment plan ? She then acted annoyed and said I guess I’ll go ask as if I was in the wrong to ask She came back and said the doctor was calling in meds to which I said he usually gives me them in the form of shots bc of my having MS and allergies. Again, she’s acted annoyed and just shut the door. She then came back with the shot in hand and I didn’t have my mask on bc it had fallen on floor when I took it off for her to take the swab and it’s hard for me to breath bc of congestion. She said so rudely ..before entering room with the shot to give me said …. “you need to put your mask on because I don’t want to get the flu…”… if she is SO concerned about being around sick people as a NURSE in a sick clinic for flu and cold why doesn’t she wear a mask herself She only cared about herself and Had zero interest in taking care of her Doctors patients with quality of care and compassion. The doctor is wonderful but if his nursing staff is less then competent it doesn’t matter how great he is. She had NO communication skills, was unfriendly, made me …direct her for the procedure of care to be given …all while having a high fever, and her trying so hard to stay far away from us the entire visit hindered her patient care greatly. Had I not said anything, we would left with zero medication, no direction and no school note…. all things that she should be on top of and providing us as part of the evaluation. I called to speak with the manager and left a message and of course received no call back. Really disappointed. Nurses are the heart of medicine but that was NOT our experience today. Patients shouldn’t have to put their health and safety at risk bc they are worried they will be counted absent like a child missing school.

I absolutely LOVE the staff and I LOVE LOVE LOVE my doctor Theresa Hoffman. Highly recommend. They really get to know you. They take time to answer your questions and they also ask alot of questions in return. Very thorough. Can't recommend enough.

My previous physician was amazing, but unfortunately moved away to be closer to family. She had been attentive and understanding of concerns with my medication and how it was affecting me. When things needed to be changed, we spoke about options and possibilities for treatment beyond medication, but she never admonished my choice to continue with my current medication, and encouraged me to apply for a medication voucher due to my unemployment.

My latest doctor was completely radio silent. Our only in-person meeting was essentially spent interrupting my explanations of my condition and avoiding discussion of my medication. The only mention of the medication was the price versus a cheaper option that I had already tried without any positive result. She seemed more concerned with price than with the effectiveness of the medication.

From then on, every refill of my medication was late because the doctor could not use the online messaging system to speak to me. This seemed strange, and so I started communicating earlier and earlier in the months, in case it was a scheduling issue. It wasn't. She just won't speak directly to me. I had gaps in my medication three times in the last 6 months.

I moved out of state and asked about prescription policy to another state while I look for a PCP in my area. Complete and utter silence. I asked for clarification, I got an alert from my local CVS that my meds we there! Wonderful! I try it again the next month (last week as of posting this review) and got no response. I tried again yesterday, and the response this morning, the last day of medication that I have, and I find out that I won't get a refill. Not that I CAN'T get one, but the doctor just doesn't WANT to do it. This was all indirect, I only saw communication from the doctor in a response chain between the other staff that have to handle her communication.

Luckily, I won't die from the negligence of this one doctor. I would hate for someone to go through this with a life-threatening illness.

Unbelievable first-time experience with this organization. Their customer care center, front desk personnel, and nurse were all extremely kind and professional. Dr. De Guzman was the most amazing doctor I could have ever imagined. I am so thankful for the patient care I received today at IU Health.

Dr. Hasan is my GP, has been at thisnlocatuon for over a year. Great location easy in easy out, but can be difficult to find. Staff is wonderful and really on their game. Dr Hasan himself always takes the time to listen to your issues and shows interest in your well being and thoughts. Excellent care
