Thank you to everyone at Jefferson Healthcare for helping me with an emergency surgery last week! I feel fortunate to have received calm, professional, effective care - all delivered with kindness. The hospital was spotless - thank you to the cleaning team I didn't get to meet. I was unconscious half the time I was there, and so didn't learn all of your names, but will try to thank those we met: ER Nurses Sam, Marie, and Rachel (or was it Rebecca?you laughed it off and now I can't recall!).Overnight nurses Peter, Emily, and (I think) Gabriella. Doctors Smith, Schwartz, and one doc who introduced as Chris, so i didn't catch his your name. Social Worker Tim, your compassion was not masked by your mask... And to everyone involved in keeping Jefferson Healthcare running, you have my respect, admiration, and most of all my gratitude. Thanks for helping a gal out with an emergency appendectomy, and for being so good at what you do.

Took my husband to the ER this morning. He was diagnosed with a UTI Friday and was given antibiotics. He was told it would clear up quickly. Sunday morning it was worse. I took him to the ER because I feared it was something more serious. We waited about 20 minutes to see a nurse and get vitals and a urinalysis. Then we sat in the waiting room for 3 hours as many came in and were treated and on their way. Frustrated I went to the front desk and asked why all these people that came in after us have been treated and gone and we’re still waiting. She said we weren’t a priority. I will never use this ER again. We left with no answers.

My wife went into urgent care and saw Ingrid. I hate to say it but, can't they find a Dr. that has compassion. Unbelievable, when she asked if she could see Macey, Ingrid told her that patients don't have the right to see whatever Dr. they want. She was very short and rude and the worst, we've ever seen. Overall we love Jefferson Healthcare and I had a great experience with Shawnisa, in the sleep clinic.

My husband had suffered a fall injury shortly before we left on a mini-vacation to the Olympic Peninsula. He said he was okay, but the next morning, his pain level was 10 out of 10. I checked with local residents, and they recommended heading to Port Townsend for urgent care. We found Jefferson Healthcare/Medical Center in Port Townsend. Turns out he wasn't "okay" and had suffered a fracture of his upper arm. We were in and out in less than two hours, including x-rays and consultation with orthopedic techs for an arm sling. We are ever so grateful for the kind, attentive care they gave my husband.

What a refreshing experience! Emergencies are always hard, but the doctors and nurses that helped us were incredibly professional, thorough, and kind. We felt safe and secure, well cared for and they even were able to find out why my husband was so sick for almost a month! We live a county away and will happily make the hour drive to receive this type of quality care. Thank you to all the ER and ICU doctors and nurses, you are amazing!!

I was hospitalized for a medical emergency that occurred while I was biking from Seattle to Port Townsend. The staff is amazing, from the ER to the medical floor. The admitting hospitalist saw me in the ER and the discharging hospitalist saw me first thing the next morning. ALL the nurses were caring and attentive, the CT/MRI/ECHO techs were helpful and knowledgeable (especially the ECHO tech!), and the doctors were the best. This hospital is run efficiently. If all hospitals were run and staffed like Jefferson Healthcare, the US medical system would be in great shape!

This ER is AMAZING please read:

After having a terrible experience at our in town hospital, we decided to drive to Jefferson.
I cannot remember the receptionists name, but they treated us with kindness and care. I was checked in, spent no more than 15 minutes in the waiting room. Jenny (or Jen?) was our nurse and called us back and took us to our room. She was very caring, one of the best nurses I’ve encountered. Before she was even finished checking my blood work, a man arrived to take me to get and ultrasound (& yes he was awesome too!)
Within ten minutes of the ultra sound Dr. Kent Smith came in and thoroughly discussed my symptoms. He didn’t rush me, or make me feel like all this pain was in my head. He believed me. After talking about the symptoms I’ve had for two months now, he ordered blood work and had me drink something to numb my stomach to see if this was an ulcer.
I was nervous about drinking the concoction for my stomach, but the nurse Jenny really calmed me down and even told me about her experiences with it, it made me feel better and gave me hope that we could finally figure this all out.
I drank the stuff and it worked, stomach started feeling better. Boom, just like that he diagnosed me with an ulcer.
Then our nurse Jenny said she was leaving and we had another nurse come in, I was sad honestly because she was great.

But what happened? We got another great nurse named Rachel! She was just as amazing, just as caring, and truly understood what we had been going through.

Everyone we encountered listened to us, showed us compassion and true care for me while I was there.

This has been the best hospital experience I’ve ever had at an ER.

I will only recommend this hospital to people from now on. The staff is amazing, and they truly care about people.

My husband, Larry, had a small stroke on Friday morning, Aug. 9th. We were in the emergency room by 7:30 AM. Within four hours, Larry had a completed CAT scan, an MRI, a COVID test, an echocardiogram and a visit by the physical therapist. He was seen by the Hospitalist, Dr. Smith who gave him the results of his CAT scan. He was diagnosed with a Basal Ganglia Stroke by Dr. Mendez-Escabar and was admitted for overnight observation. He was visited by his doctor, Dr. Mendez Escabar, both Friday and before he was released on Saturday.

Now that’s incredible health service by any standard.

The nurses, sometimes two at time, were friendly, fun and efficient! They knew their job and they knew how to do it while putting the patient and his wife at ease.

We can’t say enough about the wonderful care during a stressful event! And to top it off, the food was delicious! How lucky we are to have such exemplary health care in Jefferson County!
