I got enrolled with Kaiser Permanente from January 1st, 2025 and due to my poor health condition I made a phone call around 1 PM on Jan. 2nd and sought appointment at the earliest. The executive with whom I spoke was kind enough to give me same day appointment with the doctor at 3:10 PM, the best experience I ever had! I reported punctually and was met by the clinical staff and the Doctor who examined me and prescribed X-Ray, Lab Tests, ECG and Medications, which were all done on my first visit, which meant a lot to me - the KP system shared my urgency! For me, an 89 year old person, this was unique and the most satisfying memorable experience of my life!

I was there with Makenzie at 946 for a 10 apt. I had filled out the pre-appt questionnaire the day before and received a text saying I would receive a check in text before my appt. I was also told masks were only mandatory for those who had COVID in their circles.
So I get there 15~ min early, go and sit down with no mask. I’m there taking care of my child, waiting for a text and receive none. I give it til 1015 and start checking my phone, at 1017 I got a text saying I was needed at the reception desk. I didn’t get the guy’s name, but in a VERY condescending tone and look- he said “you’re 15 minutes late and have missed your appointment.” Reasonably frustrated, I explained the situation which he obviously did not believe. After 10 minutes of deliberating, we got another appt for 1030. In that process I was told I needed a mask, so I felt like an idiot being the only one there without one.

We see the doctor, who did not have a filled out pre-appt survey that I had filled out. She then says it’s going to be a 30 min wait for Makenzie’s shots and asks if I want to just come back another time. Of course I don’t- do you have any idea how long it takes to get to the clinic with a 6mon old? Anyway we opt to wait. About 30 min later someone comes in to give shots, and she doesn’t even know my wife had the RSV shot and so she had to spend another 10 min going to ask a doctor. The whole ordeal took well over two hours. I am extremely unsatisfied with all of that…to put it mildly and would never refer anyone to go through similar issues- especially the condescension from the reception desk. I have, in fact almost never received professional service from anyone but the actual doctors at Kaiser- they are always making some comment about my height- just feels very odd coming from “professionals.”

Dr. Dunagan is an amazing doctor. While most doctors at KP are highly qualified and excellent, her bedside manner is outstanding. Very happy that our kids have her as their doctor.
