I reached out about about testing for autism. I explained my symptoms and family history. She told me that it seemed like a needed a different job instead. She also told me high functioning autistic people have no problems at their jobs or in their personal lives. At the time, I was on leave from work. She also asked me if I was trying to get on full disability (I'm not on disability and at no point did I say that I wanted to be). At this point, I began crying and she asked me why I was more upset now then when we started.... because apparently she saw no problem with anything she said. I informed I found her incredibly invalidating. She then tried to prescribe me some anti-depressents, pushing them incredibly hard. It was truly a perfect example of why women go so long without being diagnosed. She was truly horrible. A few months later, I was evaluated and diagnosed with autism and dyslexia by a much better practioner. Run as far as you can from this woman. She's exemplifies so many things wrong with healthcare.
