If you see any doctors at this facility, be aware that their billing practices have changed. Even if you have great insurance, it's not your insurance. It is laheys billing. If you have anything done, such as a tetanus shot, your physical turns into a chargeable appointment, and you are, then the exam room turns into a procedure room. If you see a specialist and they offer you, "Let's see how a cortisone shot works and go from there." That specialist appointment for your co-pay can now go up to over $200. The exam room is now classified as a treatment room/surgical room. you're charged for the room, the procedure and what ever the can charge you and they don't tell you, even if the Dr changes the coding and says they won't charge you, lahey billing office will change it to what they feel it should be, if they give you a brace or equipment for your wrists, elbow, ankle what have you. You paid to see an orthopedic, and now you receive a separate bill from a company for the brace, in our case $42.00, this same brace you can get online for $20. They don't tell you about the additional charges. Do not go here if you are looking for a new physician, We have insurance for prescriptions and medical supplies, but this place has taken medical billing to another level, just so they can squeeze more money out of you. Im advising my family to look elsewhere for specialty care. To not give patients the information about additional billing after offering them something that used to be covered under a physical appointment is just wrong, absolutely misleading by the medical facility. Can you imagine thinking you have a great medical facility and care that your insurance covers? Only to receive all kinds of separate bills a month later? Elderly who are on fixed incomes, people with limited income, but not low enough to obtain help from the state. This is crazy, absolutely crazy, so what does your insurance cover? I don't think it's legal to not inform a person of additional charges from what they believe is a primary care appointment covered under their insurance or any other appointment that had previously been covered. 3 stars for the drs, and they don't try to bill it just as a regular appointment, but the billing office codes it the way they want to. Consumer beware.

Lahey Hospital and Medical Center is a Level 1 trauma center, and does liver and kidney transplants. They have primary care and specialty practices within the campus and in many surrounding buildings. The ER was enlarged about 10 years ago but is almost always on overflow status. The quality of the care depends on the individual physician.

So I've been going to the clinic for a while. And I've had most of my tests done outside. A few days ago I asked for another test to be done outside and they suddenly sprung and new system which is called referral system. They ask for information which they are not entitled to do and for information that I couldn't possibly give them. Every time I call this system they ask for a message so they can get back to me within 3 days. But my situation is urgent and I have nobody to address. I called my doctor's office and I still haven't gotten a call back.

The system is designed to keep patients from going outside or to make it extremely unlikely that they would because of the huge burden that's now opposed. I think this is monopolistic and deprives the patients of some fundamental rights that are being abrogated by this facility. I am so angry that even though I gave them a better rating before, I I believe the system has lost its touch with its patients and with its patients needs. I even called customer service or customer relations and have yet to hear back. Everything seems to be wait wait wait.

Honestly, it's factory "healthcare at its finest." You have to get transferred about 11 times to speak to the right person and when you finally do they give you a cut and information on webmd. I generally go to my doctor for information on cutting edge insider advice...not things I can just Google. They also just want to take your money. I switched birth control and they wanted me to come in just to take my BP....and I've never had issues with it. They just want money for nothing. It's an overral disappointing experience and I would never really trust them to diagnose anything. mb. I g
