Edit* After writing this review, I experienced an unsavory set of actions in order for me to take down this review, thus slowing my healing process. I have no doubt they have helped individuals before, but the unsavory actions indicate large red flags for this business. I advise caution. Please check the yelp page. The other one star reviews accurately reflect a similar experience. Overall, their actions to me prove to be money-driven over client-driven.

My experience having been treated here was relieving at first as I really needed serious attention and help, but slowly became unprofessional.

This is not the location to choose if you are looking for long-term healing. The advice and insight I’ve been given felt like a bandaid compared to a lot of the complex and deeper issues I was struggling with. I didn’t feel care or empathy at all from Katarina. The office started ghosting me, and have not gotten any response from her. Coming out of my sessions I felt unimportant, I felt like my issues and struggles didn’t matter. This place didn’t feel like a lighthouse. Matters got worse when I was asking for a note, or signing papers for work. The attitude towards me became cold. If it was out of their capabilities, I wish they tried referring me to a different location, helping me reach out to the actual help I needed. I felt so lost and stressed especially in the state I was in already. I felt threatened to have a session or not. Please, take the time to listen, be patient, understanding, responsive, and act with care as all these patients are going through tough times.

After every session, Katarina would just walk away like time was up that’s it. I just felt like a stranger that she had to talk to for one hour and then that’s it. Being a social worker, I felt it lacked the empathy and warmth. I’ve never felt as if she tried to understand me.

I switched to my old psychologist and after just one session with him I felt hopeful. I expressed my concerns and he showed me empathy and a willingness to work things through.

The Lighthouse was such a great stepping stone to where I am today. Although i did counseling there about 3 years ago my husband and I have learned some amazing things that we hold to this day. I would highly recommend the lighthouse for any counseling. Jean was amazing and opened my eyes to so many things I needed for MYSELF before I could pour into a marriage. My husband and I both hold strong boundaries and communicate compared to where we started.
I am forever thankful for the impact you all had on our lives!

Professional and very personable staff. I love their frame work of helping the individual become a happy, healthy, and empowered being - allowing that to be whatever the individual sees fit. My awakening would not have been the same without Ray & Jean. My young daughter also sees Eddie regularly and she has grown through those encounters as well. I have already recommended The Lighthouse to friends & strangers alike and will continue to do so. Great team for your mental health!

I’ve been seeing Ray at Lighthouse for several years now. Every time I leave I feel a little more confident stepping out of my comfort zone when tackling the stressors in my life.

One thing I love about Lighthouse is that they adapt to the needs of their clientele. If there is need for a specific support group, they find a way to make it happen. They also create ways to support others at home, like their Couples Synergy podcast.

I would highly recommend checking them out if you’re looking for ways to work on you.

It was a great experience going to couples counseling and individual with Ray (individual) and Jean (couples) at the lighthouse as it allowed me to improve my relationship with myself and the people that I am surrounded with.

Definitely I recommend this place.

I started going to Lighthouse shortly after having my baby and finding out my then husband was cheating on me. I went there wanting them to help "fix me" so that my husband would stay. But what they did for me instead has change my life completely and helped me become the person I always knew I could be. I am the strongest I've ever been and have no regrets about where this has all taken me. The team at Lighthouse is so special and unique and I know I would not have had the same experience anywhere else. If you are sitting there wanting answers but dont even know the questions to ask then give them a call and start your own journey...one day you will look back too and be so grateful you did!

After my friend confided in me of her issues and I realized it is beyond what I could do for her, I decided to find some counseling assistance for her. I had never been to any counselor so really didn't know what to do. Finally, I found a counseling service in Arlington Heights on the internet and initially I was skeptical but my friend had nothing but great things to say about them and she seems like she is doing much better and overall improvement. So I'm glad I found Lighthouse. I just want my friend to be back to who she was.

would definitely recommend them for family counseling .. we are very grateful for them and we have our family back. Using a different alias as to remain private or it would be a dead giveaway. so if you have issues with family or you need child therapy definitely a good place.
